More About the Author


Robin Carey, born in Minneapolis, attended Beloit College (BA), Yale University (MFA), and the University of Washington (PhD). A specialist in Renaissance Literature, he taught at the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire, and at Southern Oregon University in Ashland, Oregon, with exchange stints at the University of Idaho and the University of Montana. For many years he worked also as a whitewater river guide on the Rogue and Klamath rivers. His stories and essays have been published widely. Awards include the Oregon Book Award for BAJA JOURNEY, and a National Endowment for the Arts Award in creative non-fiction. He currently lives with his wife, Catharine, in Missoula, Montana.

Wow. This is the real deal. |Discovered this on dusty back shelf of the local library and found myself enthralled. This is Baja the way it was ten years ago when it still held some of its idyllic lonliness. Great read.
