Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

Donovan, a free-wheeling helicopter pilot-for-hire whose territory is Bajathe Mexican peninsula below Californiaencounters a handful of trouble when an intriguing girl suddenly appears just as he is taking off from a wealthy island estate, and begs him to take her along. Anna, granddaughter of the recently deceased patron, has overheard Octavio, her powerful, ruthless fiance, discuss the details of an illegal-alien smuggling operation that resulted in the gruesome deaths of hopeful emigrants. She is now fleeing for her life. At first Donovan wants nothing to do with this exasperating, yet alluring woman, but an unfriendly visit from Octavio's vicious henchmen convinces him that he is Anna's only hope. And as the two are thrown together, their initial animosity slowly develops into passion, one that could prove fatal for them both. Chance displays adequate skill with her narration, but the story is far too short to allow for either satisfying plot or character development.

From Library Journal

After a casual sex encounter on a foggy beach the protagonists of this violent, disjointed chase novel are off and running. Anna, the naive granddaughter and heir of a reformed Mafia Don, flees her fiance, Tavio, who she mistakenly thinks is involved in illegal alien smuggling and murder. Donovan, a hard-boiled charter helicopter pilot and her partner in the beach episode, pursues herfirst to get his stolen money back, and later to save her. Meanwhile the real bad guys chase the two of them back and forth between Baja California and the West Coast. Love and courage finally triumph in this confused, predictable novel.
