Grade 3-6. Over 2000 words found in the Bible are clearly and simply explained. If more than one meaning is applicable, all are given. This is particularly helpful in the case of proper names; e.g., there are three Joabs and at least six Nathans. Every entry has a Scriptural citation that appears in a light blue sidebar for quick and easy location. Italicized words within definitions indicate separate entries, and other cross-referencing is thorough. Highlighting is used for teaching Christian themes: yellow for words about sin and salvation, green for those about God and Jesus, and pink for those about Christian life. Unfortunately, the illustrations are small and murky and often have no particular relevance to the text. Otherwise, large, clear type; color-coded alphabet tabs; out-dented, bold-faced entries; phonetic spellings; and a user-friendly introduction all help make this a good reference tool for Christian and church libraries.?Patricia Pearl Dole, formerly at First Presbyterian School, Martinsville, VA

A very good reference book for kids,

My 9 year old daughter bought this book and we have found it answered many questions she had about the Bible that I couldn't answer. The langauge is very age appropriate. The setup of the book is great and the phonetic pronunciation was helpful.

I gave these books away one Summer to kids involved in a discipleship program and it proved to be a great tool for them. The answers are age-appropriate and written in a way kids can understand. Some kids even spent time just reading the entries in this book in addition to using it for looking up things they did not understand. When your child has a question about a Bible word, name or idea, send them to this, even if you can answer it. It helps the child develop study skills and gives him/her a sense of accomplishment for having discovered the answer for him/herself. Every family with early readers should have a copy!
