This review is from: Baker's Secret Basics Nonstick Large Loaf Pan (Kitchen)
After using these only a few times and keeping them in storage for 2 years, all of these pans have rust on the inside and outside.

I've had mine for about 5 months now, possibly less. A couple of weeks ago, I noted that it smelled rusty. And indeed the bottom had already started rusting! I used this pan regularly and also noted that it does not bake evenly. I tried to keep the little rust off my food by lining it with foil before baking but it's too much trouble and I still don't feel secure. I don't think I want to use it at all anymore now. I think it will be worthwhile to invest in something pricier but of better quality. This is not worth your trouble. Or try Pyrex for other purposes.

Very good Loaf Pan - a review of the Baker's Secret Large Loaf,
This review is from: Baker's Secret Basics Nonstick Large Loaf Pan (Kitchen)
I got this pan to use with one of Alton's recipes [Good Eats] and I love it. Nothing seems to stick, not cake nor meatloaf.
It cleans up in a jiffy so there is no need to even put it in the dishwasher (if you do be careful as the inside finish will scratch). Five Stars. Even cooking with a no-stick finish that lives up to its name. I've bought two pans so far with no problem. Only draw back is that you should be very careful placing them in dishwasher as the inside finish will scratch.

Excellent Loaf Pan - Gets the job done,
By

This low cost loaf pan does everything you would expect a loaf pan to do. It's dark color absorbs enough heat to produce desired browning. It also releases cleanly. The protruding lips serve as handles (although if they were a little bigger they'd be easier to grip while wearing oven mitts). All in all, this is an excellent buy for a loaf pan - you should buy two since many recipes call for making two loaves.

Good quality pan,
This review is from: Baker's Secret Basics Nonstick Large Loaf Pan (Kitchen)
I got this for a banana bread recipe, and even though it is non-stick, I did use some spray and flour on the inside of it. It cooked beautifully, and didn't stick even in the slightest. It seems to be a solid pan overall - I would not recommend putting any nonstick bakeware or cookware in the dishwasher, as it does pit and scratch the surface, but this is easy to clean in the sink. It has not warped, though I've only had it for a few days and used it twice. Obviously, I haven't had it long enough to notice any issues with rusting, so I can't give an opinion about that. I did notice the same thing as someone else that the "handles" are a little small if you use large fat oven mitts, but that seems to be the only drawback. If you're a college student, just out of college, or just starting on your own and need some cook- and bakeware (or even if you're an established cook, but need a pan for a new recipe, and don't know that you'll be using it often enough to justify buying an expensive one), this seems to be a fine place to start as it is nonstick and very affordable.

I have been so satisfied with these pans that I now have five. I use them to bake bread and nothing ever sticks. Just spray the pans and your bread will slid right out. I had used other pans and always had a problem with my bread sticking even after spraying with oil. The large size is just perfect for a nice large loaf of bread. Don't wash them often, just wipe out after using. I have yet to have any rusting problem with any of them even after washing them. You should always place the pans back in your oven for a minute or two after washing to make sure they are nice and dry before storing. That technique has always kept my pans from rusting. I would recommend these pans, so far I have not found anything better for my bread.

We wanted a large bread pan and the dimensions stated 11x6 is larger than the standard. The pan we received was 9 1/4 x 5 1/4 which is the standard size, not nearly as large as the dimensions stated.

HORRIBLE quality - use with caution!,

My wife and I recently got a couple of these pans for Xmas. On the second occasion that we used them, I noticed a grey color on the side of the loaf after removing it from the pan. THE NON-STICK COATING HAD COME OFF AND STUCK TO THE BREAD!!
Using these pans poses a health risk! Stay far away from this brand! Other reviewers have complained that the pans rust (which they do) and this would be why. Whatever chemical coating they put on the pan comes off in your food, and you then ingest it! Thanks a lot, Baker's Secret! I'm sure it won't be long before lawsuits begin...

I make all our bread and bought two of these to replace Cuisinart pans that had started to delaminate. Others said they had problems with rust, but I haven't. I wash them in the dishwasher but am careful to place them so that no tines rub the interior. I also don't use the dry feature on my washer so that may make a different. They create a nice crust on my bread. I hope to have them a long time.

I use my Baker's Secret loaf pan often, mainly for my homemade banana bread.
PROS: - Never warps, keeps its shape bake after bake. - Even heat distribution and baking. - Cleans up pretty well if soaked first in hot, soapy water. - Has never rusted (and I've had mine for many years). - Slightly rounded corners and edges make taking baked goods out easier, never stick. CONS: - Small handles are awkward to use oven mitts with. |
