5.0 out of 5 stars Baker's Rack with wine and glass storage
For the price you couldn't expect more from this baker's rack. We bought this item for our son and daughter in law for Christmas. For the price you couldn't expect more from this baker's rack. We bought this item for our son and daughter in law for Christmas. During phone calls over the year J had expressed some frustration with the limited storage space in their kitchen. I can't think of a better way to love my kids than to find a way to lessen their frustrations, so I saw this baker's rack as a lovely way to help them. When I talked to them, they were excited about putting it together and then filling it up. Later after they'd done both, they said it was PERFECT. You can spend a great deal more money for one of these, but dollar for dollar THIS Baker's Rack is a fantastic buy!

3.0 out of 5 stars Looks Nice Overall, but a Few Things...., September 13, 2011

This review is from: Baker's Style Wine and Glass Rack
I bought this baker's rack after deliberation and research. My husband and I just moved into our first apartment and we needed something to put our small microwave on and a few other items that had found a littler-more-than-annoying place on our floor. I wanted something with a few shelves, the wine rack on the bottom, and the extra shelf on the very bottom. It was also ascetically pleasing and looked pretty sturdy and had good reviews, so I went ahead and bought it.

After receiving this shelf and putting it together, there are a few things that I would warn/comment about this shelf:

1) I had a concern that the space between the bottom rack and the first of the two wine racks would prove to have enough space for what I needed to put on the bottom rack (a food processor being one of them), but none of the reviews or the descriptions mentioned the measurements, so I took a chance (it's about a foot (12 inches). Luckily, the wine racks are removable, so I sacrificed the second one for the space.

2) When putting the shelf together, I noticed slight metal "bubbles" near some of the holes where the screws are inserted. Not a big deal, but enough to frustrate you for buying a new item.

3) The instructions are on one piece of paper with a diagram, so be careful when putting it together because it gets confusing and frustrating when you have to screw and unscrew pieces.

4) The bottom shelf (probably the most disappointing thing for me), is basically useless. I don't know how they pulled off the picture with the plant on the bottom, but it would never be able to hold that without bending. I put a coffee bean grinder on the shelf (weighting approx. 1 pound), was bending the flat iron rods that stretch across the bottom of the shelf. I went and bought a piece of wood (16 x 22 1/4 inches) to place on the bottom so it lays across the stronger rods in the front and back. I plan on staining it to match the rest of the shelf's "wood." Despite it being a bit of a pain and an extra $10-$20, I'm glad to have the shelf function for my purposes with the added shelf.

5) The screws are placebo. They are wallboard screws, but don't work into the "wooden" shelves very well. You have to screw upwards into some of the shelves and mine fell out several times. Because of this, I have decided not to use the underneath of the top shelf for glass hanging just in case something might happen.

When all is said and done, it does look nice from across the room and holds our micro wave very well. I have something on every shelf and was able to put the food processor on the added bottom shelf along with my KitchenAid mixer, so I definitely know that's sturdy. It also gives the shelf a good anchored base. I am using the one wine rack and have my canisters on the top shelf. If you're looking something to get you by, or if you are short on counter space/kitchen space like we are, this shelf works. My husband loves the look of it and, after these few frustrations, I'm satisfied with it as it serves our needs for now.

4.0 out of 5 stars Mixed feelings, March 7, 2010
This review is from: Baker's Style Wine and Glass Rack
I gave this four stars because of the price, if it was rated just on quality I would give it a two. The instructions are a single sheet with one picture which is more like an exploded diagram. The panels and metal had scratches on them in the box. When you assemble this do not tighten down the bolts for the bottom half until you have it on a hard flat surface, this will address the wobbly complaints. Also the glass rack will drop your glasses. I fixed this by taking a small amount of electrical tape and wrapping it around the ends of the glasses rack. This acts as a bump stop and saves your glasses. The complaints about the screws poking through the table top is because there are two different sizes of screws. They look the same and are only 3/16 of an inch apart so it is easy to use the wrong one. This does look nice assembled but it is flimsy. The wine racks can be removed since they just drop in but you need them for more support, they make a difference. Also the bottom rack is very flimsy, don't plan on any thing very heavy on the bottom.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wood metal wine rack! WOW, November 16, 2009

Love it, fit nicely where I wanted it to go. However I think my floor boards are loose and I have lost several glasses due to them sliding off if the room is walked heavily in or if the movement in the room is great. Other than that it looks nice and serves the purpose I wanted

2.0 out of 5 stars Flimsy, not sturdy!, January 8, 2008

Rack is cute, very small, so it fits into our space nicely. BUT the rack is very poorly constructed, and the instructions are not easy to follow, as the diagram is poorly illustrated. The rack is very flimsy, it will not support much weight. It is cheaply made, and it shows.

3.0 out of 5 stars Very nice, how much?, March 13, 2007
Could be a little cheaper I think. It is put together well except you have to watch it with the screws I accidentally screwed through the top of one of the pieces. I liked the way it looks and it is a lot taler than I expected. But in the words of Borat "Very , nice how much?"

3.0 out of 5 stars Baker's/Wine Rack - Not Great, January 17, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Baker's Style Wine and Glass Rack
This rack comes in pieces with one little paper that doesn't even list instructions how to build it. It shows you a diagram of what parts go where, and what the 100 little screws look like, and where they "should" go - so good luck if you do it backwards or with the wrong screws. Now that I have it assembled correctly, it isn't totally level, but I'm fine with it. I would have paid another $30 somewhere else for it to come already assembled! Good note: shipment and seller were great.

2.0 out of 5 stars Cheap materials/construction, October 6, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Baker's Style Wine and Glass Rack
My girlfriend wanted to try and put this together because it was for her and she wanted to do it. She got about two minutes into it before i had to take over. I found out real fast why she couldnt do it. The instruction are on one page and very confusing. I had to go back several times and take pieces apart because i didnt see certain things in the diagram, and there was also a part on the diagram that was displayed wrong. My second complaint is that the materials in this rack just seemed cheap and flimsy. Several of the pieces dont line up right which leaves gaps where it should line up flush. Some of the holes dont line up right especially when screwing down the shelves. A few of the screws fell out from the bottom of the shelving so i had to leave it with a few missing screws. On the top shelf, the two back screws are almost impossible to screw in because of the frame. The rack just seems flimsy overall and i'm almost afraid to put anything expensive on or near it. I guess i shouldnt complain too much because i got what i paid for. I will say that looks nice once you get it together, thats the only reason its getting two stars instead of one. I would recommend paying a little more and getting a better quality rack.
