5.0 out of 5 stars Have been looking for this for two years!
I LOVE this item. It makes perfect, uniform cheese slices - something I have never been able to accomplish with a knife, cheese plane, or wire cutter attached to a board. I bought one at my local Kitchen Outlet over a decade ago and fell in love. The only downside is that it's a little flimsy with a life expectancy of about one year. It's so inexpensive that I didn't mind...

2.0 out of 5 stars Convenient, but rather puny
Yes, it's great to just grab a simple cheese slicer from the drawer and go to town on a block of cheese when you crave that midnight snack, but this one can't handle the major league stuff. It snapped in half on a 5lb block of Tillamook Cheddar. I got precisely what I paid for.

It's so inexpensive that I didn't mind buying a new one once a year. But then my local kitchen outlet stopped carrying it.

I bought a similar item from a different manufacturer that cost about twice as much and it broke while I was cutting my first slice of cheese! Don't settle for anything less than the original Thick & Thin Cheese Slicer! It's the best :)

This will be my annual birthday present to myself. I am so happy to find this product again.

Small, lightweight and inexpensive. Works perfectly. If a string should break at some point in the future I'll just buy another one. Has been used on soft, medium and hard cheeses with no problems so far. Does not suffer from "adjustment slip" (becaue it is not adjustable) but you are given the choice between thick and thin. Would highly reccommend. I bought a very nice professional slicer but this is the one I use most often!

5.0 out of 5 stars Plain and simple, September 13, 2009

This product delivers exactly what it says. Thick and thin slices of your cheese. And if someday it breaks, who cares? At this cheap price you can afford to buy replacements!

5.0 out of 5 stars the wire is long enough to slice big blocks of cheese, September 21, 2011

I love this cheese slicer!

The wire is long enough to reach all the way across my large 5-pound blocks of cheese.

The product description says that the thick side can make a "satisfyingly hefty slab of cheese" and I thought I'd end up only using the thin side, but they're both just right and I use both pretty frequently.

I also love that this slicer is simple and as non-bulky as a knife.

Since it's just a wire and not a blade, I can let my young children use it without cutting themselves. I can also use it without getting out a cutting board.

This slicer works great on both softer block cheese and harder block cheeses.

I'm back to order a couple as gifts.

Great cheese slicer. It feels very sturdy and is much easier to grip than other cheese slicers I've tried. My only complaint is that as you're slicing, cheese smudges off of the cheese block onto the rod, which you have to smear off every time. I like the rod, though, so you can get some leverage vs other small, wire, cheese cutters. It's also easy to wash; just stick it in the dishwasher with your other utensils.

We're on our third slicer, as the wire stretches. Each one lasts about 6 months, but I love them and am back for more. Stand a 2lb loaf of Oregon cheese on end and slice horizontally, supporting the wire as you bring it from the far side of the cheese toward you. It makes quick work of a tricky job, allowing you to buy better quality cheese at a lower price than pre-sliced cheeses.

I've been using this Thick & Thin cheese slicer for over ten years. Everyone once in a while, they break and I order another. It is, by far, the best cheese slicer I ever used. I bought three additional as gifts for my three adult children.

5.0 out of 5 stars fantastic cheese slicer; great price!, April 9, 2010

What a bargain! I purchased two! My mother had one and I looked around until I found this on the internet. I'm very pleased w/ the performance, low cost and how very easy it is to store this cheese slicer. It takes up no room at all but functions like the more expensive slicers.

4.0 out of 5 stars Simple & Handy, December 24, 2011

This is a simple and very handy tool. It cuts with a wire instead of a blade, so it's also safe. I have had one for 4+ years and it just broke (plastic handle broke at the metal rivet in the middle) after a lot of use ... definitely worth the inexpensive cost.

I like that it has a thin and thick side for options. Also, it is small enough that I often just leave it in the ziploc bag with the block of cheese in the fridge. it is flat and not much bigger than a butter knife, so it fits easily in the drawer, too.
