Hegemonic masculinity and violence definitely runs rampant in this series; that being said, this anime is obviously not for young viewers. The main character's mother is a bit on the nut-so side, the father isn't too far behind, and the person on the front of the box there is supposed to be 13-years-old. Judging from all of those things it should be pretty obvious that this is not a brain food anime. It's, more or less, fighting, fighting, and more fighting. When I bought this series I went in expecting as much and therefore was not disappointed. I was actually very pleased with this purchase.

The best advice that I can give you is that if you don't mind watching something that's like a UFC/Mortal Combat hybrid saturated in extremely heavy `WTF' overtones (for lack of a better example), then this is the anime for you. If you're looking for something that you can seriously watch and evaluate for "deeper meanings" and that has a "grade 'A' plot", then don't even bother. It's a fighting anime; nothing more, nothing less. So don't go in expecting to see much more than that or you'll have otherwise wasted both your time and your money.

Hey if you love martial arts video games and animation you can lost the chance to see this great collection of BAKI THE GRAPPLER, you won't belive what your eyes are seeing... So don't let this anime pass by without seeing it! YOU WILL GET HOOK

a perfect set of movies for anyone interested in this series. He wanted them all, but couldn't afford them all at once; this was a reasonable priced way to start collecting them!

This Anime is amazing!! It have a cool style and it's also brutal! I like that!

This collection of Baki collects volumes 1-6 which is 24 episodes and is great quality the only problem I had was that it didn't have that many extra features included in the set. It had an episode summary of each episode and character bios that where the same on each disc. It also had commentary on one episode on each disc, which is a shame because I enjoyed these the most.

I actually got this as a gift but this will be one very short review the animation was beyond idiotic they drew these characters like comic book characters from the 1990's so over muscled it was sad I just could not believe the character Baki was supposed to be 13.The voices were also sadly pathetic except for a few of them and those weren't any of the main character voices either all I can Say is pass this series up if you like fighting anime fine this is for you but if you want any thing else block this show from you're viewing lists..
