5.0 out of 5 stars The Baking Book Which No Person Should Be Without
As a high school student I would turn to this book whenever I needed to make something for a school event or 4-H project. My classmates adored the banana split cake and the chocolate swirl cheesecake, and my best friend fell in love with one of the pudding cakes. Pair this book with the Better Homes and Gardens Cookbook for some fantastic and memorable meals.

3.0 out of 5 stars Typical Baking book
It is your average baking book. While it has a lot of recipes it is just sort of run of the mill.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent recipes, pictures, variety and cooking levels., March 23, 1999

I love this book. It is set up so nicely with great directions. The old-fashioned desserts are some I have not seen since I was a child. It is nice to make something my mother remembers! I love the breads of all kinds and the children's section helps make this a cookbook we all can enjoy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Baking mad Simple, December 4, 2000
By A Customer
I am not a very experienced baker, however, I ordered this book to help me out with my Holiday cookies. I want to say that this book makes baking easy even for those of us who are not experts. The directions are simple and explanitory. I also found the side tips and pictures to be extremely helpful. This book is truely a must for anyone who loves to bake, is learning to bake, or needs some new baking suggestions.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book on the basics of baking, March 16, 2002
This review is from: New Baking Book (Ring-bound)
This would be the perfect cookbook for a young cook who is ready to move beyond chocolate chip cookies and on to more diverse baking. The editors have provided a solid review of the fundamentals about techiniques and ingredients, some of which are demonstrated in photographs. The recipes are well organized. Each section - cakes, pastry, pies, cookies, etc. - progresses from basic recipes to more complex offerings. A particularly nice feature is a nutritional analysis for each recipe, even though you may not want to know the calorie count for some of the more decadent desserts. There are some relatively more sophisticated recipes, but experienced bakers with a good cooking library may not find this book particularly enlightening. However, the sections on cooking with and for kids are very original and look like lots of fun. I can hardly wait to bake the castle birthday cake for my niece's next birthday!

This will be one of the most used cookbooks in your kitchen.

The recipes are easy to follow, and they all WORK! I haven't had a dud yet from this book, and my husband and I have made almost everything in it.

We got the loudest raves for the Double Chocolate Orange Torte, the Italian Cream Cake, and the Cafe Au Lait Cheesecake.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved the 3 ring binder, November 16, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: New Baking Book (Ring-bound)
Great book - love the tabbed dividers and the 3-ring binder it comes in the most - simply for the convenience and practicality. Wish all cookbooks came like this one. It covers some of the classic recipes for breads, cookies and cakes, as well as ones I've never tried or heard of before but ended up loving. Easy to follow, allows for mistakes, and has easy to use conversion tables. Also, good as a Christmas present, along with their standard checkerboard-cookbook!

5.0 out of 5 stars New Baking Book review, January 16, 2012
This review is from: New Baking Book (Hardcover)
The Baking Book is a very well written and informative book, that is relevant in today's world. There are many pictures and illustrations to guide you. Recipes not only have the nutritional information but also labels to identify easy, low-fat, and best-loved. The pages are filled with hints and tips to ensure success. The three-ring binder allows removal of the pages for minimizing space. This is an excellent book for the novice or the casual baker.
