Book Description

May 1, 2008
Bake up some treats-and some tasty lessons for very young chefs. Cooking teaches important skills in a fun way: as kids weigh, measure, mix, spoon, and spread ingredients, they're also learning their numbers, shapes, and colors, and developing manual dexterity. Plus, children love serving up food they've made themselves, and these 50 simple, easy-to-follow recipes are delicious enough to please everyone. With a little help from an adult, youngsters can create Alphabet Cookies, Cheeky Monkey Banana Treats, Dotty Brownies, and more. Special sections provide advice on what children can manage at various ages, and give the basics of kitchen safety.

4.0 out of 5 stars Baking, December 27, 2011
My four year old son and I have been baking together since he was about 13 months. We find these recipies fun to do and quick and relatively easy. The only tiny catch is that a few of the ingredients (and only one or two ingredients in one or two recipies) are a bit hard to find in the States.

3.0 out of 5 stars Very cute and very sugary, November 1, 2007
This review is from: Baking with Tiny Tots: Over 50 Easy Recipes for Young Children to Enjoy Making (Paperback)
The goal of cooking with one's child is, as expressed by the author of the book, to assist that child in eventually eating and appreciating regular food. That is a laudable goal. To that end, then, it would be helpful if this book included more regular food. Perhaps not the roasts and casseroles of which the author speaks (although, then again, why not), but, alas, the recipes in this book are mostly for *very* sugary confections.

The photographs are lovely, with a diverse range of children, boys and girls, shown enjoying themselves in the kitchen.

It would have been helpful if the book included more items with a lower sugar content -- both savory baked items and baked sweets without heavy frostings and candy coatings (which virtually all of them are). These might make baking a more frequent and healthy affair.
