Moritaka Mashiro is a normal Jr High student who is suffering from a lack of direction in life. Fortunately for him, fellow schoolmate Akito Takagi has a plan to change that. He wants Mashiro to team up with him to become a mangaka. With Takagi writing the stories and Mashiro handling the art, it is their goal to climb their way to the top! For extra motivation, Mashiro intends to marry the girl of his dreams once their goals are achieved.

Bakuman is an awesome series. I had never given much thought to the manga industry (though I do read lots of manga), but it was absolutely fascinating to learn about. The business side, the creative process, the sheer luck - so much fun. But of course, if this were just a textbook for learning about manga it wouldn't be very entertaining. But the characters, their interactions, friendships, and rivalries were so much fun.

Bakuman is definitely in my top 5 favorite manga series. The volumes are really dense, so even though it is 20 volumes, it has about twice the amount of text as a normal Jump series of similar lengths. Seriously, I normally read a volume of manga in 20-30 minutes, but Bakuman took a full hour for each one. And they were never boring. Several nights in a row I would stay up late finishing a volume, or starting a new one because i just had to know what happened next.

This box set is really nice. This is my first time buying a manga box set and I am very pleased. Not only was it much cheaper than buying the individual volumes, it comes in a cardboard box that opens up to show all 20 volumes nicely lined up. Even better, it comes with a bonus comic (a short Otter Man Num 11 story) and a small poster (revisable).

I'm not rating the series. I think Bakuman is one of the best mangas I ever read storywise. The artwork is very beautiful too.

The box set is beautiful. I love it so much. It was and still is the best Christmas gift I ever gotten. The artwork is so beautiful and the box is still intact after 2 months.

My problem is volume 10. Yes, volume 10 on the outside looks like a normal volume 10 but once you open it whoa! it's volume 8. It's a wolf in sheep's clothing so to said. I am not satisfied with having two 8s as I will have to rebuy volume 10 elsewhere.

If you want to buy this boxset then go ahead. The boxset is still a must-have. At least paying 130 dollars beats paying 200+ for every individual volume. Just make sure you order volume 10 at the same time.

Ok so I also have the Death Note Boxset which is also made by the same creators. I love both series and am so glad to own them. The Bakuman Boxset comes with a double sided poster and a mini comic spin off of Otter's 11. The box itself has many nice designs on each side and is visually stunning. It goes very well with my splendid bookshelf and my other manga. Overall if you want to own Bakuman, get this box set because you also save money. I had it preordered and got it yesterday and am very delighted.
11 thumbs up ;)

This is a great box set and all but what I am really here to Review is the condition. Before I bought this I read a couple of the other people's reviews and saw things such as getting another Volume 8 inside of the Volume 10 cover, even though many said this I disregarded this. I got mine and it had no issues such as this but the main problem was that after opening the box set I immediately decided to check each book for any type of damage or the issue from before. I noticed that Volume 2 Was badly damaged and the book was bent throughout all the pages,I decided just to buy a new Volume 2. There was also slight bending on volume 4 and 8, These were not as bad as 2 and are actually worth keeping because its a slight bend only on the cover Which is hard to notice at first look. Anyway pretty good Box Set only problem is that if you are planning to buy and care about having them in good shape make sure you have extra money to possibly buy 1 volume and if you already ordered when you receive it check every volume for anything from damage to incorrect covers.

Love this box set! The artwork on the box itself is amazing. I love this series; I read the first volume and I just had to have the complete box set. When I finish one volume the next one is in the palm of my hand! I'm just starting my manga collection and this is a great addition!

Bakuman is by far my most favorite series. And this box set gives the fan a beautiful collectible and storage case for all 20 manga as well as a bonus Otter No.11 mini manga and two-sided poster. The best deal I've seen since the Death Note box set - the pre-order was worth it and well worth the wait. I pre-ordered the set in September before it's release on October 1st - was set to deliver in early October but didn't receive the product till the 22nd. As I said before, well worth the wait! Amazon was courteous, prompt, and polite when I asked where/why it hasn't shipped and they surprised me with an upgrade to One day shipping: Amazon staff/company - you guys/gals are awesome!

In short, the product was beautiful, sturdy, and an awesome online deal. When posed with a question, customer service was quick and to the point. I would recommend this set to any fan, collector or newcomers to the series~

Oh, and buying from Amazon as well just cause my experience was pretty darn positive.
