5.0 out of 5 stars Great for Beginners.
What I like about this workout is that it is not "intense." Expect to work and stretch every muscle. But, don't expect to sweat. The workout feels easy, but then the next morning, you feel sore. The instructions are terrific. The setting is perfect. The workout is easy to learn and follow. It is a splendid mix of pilates, yoga, and balance ball.

2.0 out of 5 stars Maybe best for the EXTREME beginner at working out.
I purchased this DVD as I have never taken a balance ball class, wanted to be sure to learn the basics like correct form, etc., and didn't want to start out with something too advanced. I was impressed by the positive reviews for this DVD, however, I found the whole DVD to be geared more for those who were totally new to exercise, all together. I would recommend this for...

This is a beginner DVD. If you are in pretty good shape, I would not recommend this title.

5.0 out of 5 stars A complement to the other Suzanne Deason ball videos, November 29, 2004

I was reluctant to buy this DVD because I already have the other balance ball videos of Suzanne Deason's. But I'm glad that I bought it. Balance Ball for Beginners has different movements in it and there were almost no repeat exercises from her previous videos. The DVD also has chapters which not all exercise DVD's have, so you can do one or two segments at a time. A practical purchase for a beginner as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent basic balance ball workout, August 26, 2005
This review is from: Balance Ball for Beginners (2006) (DVD)
Of all the balance ball videos I have seen, this one is the best. Suzanne Deason's voice is wonderful and she describes the moves so well that you do not have to watch the screen while working out. The pace is not too fast, nor too slow. The best part of the DVD is in special features, which gives a 15 minute basic workout sequence that can be done quickly at any time during the day and leaves you feeling refreshed. The regular workout then can be done when you have more time. I highly recommend this DVD to use with your balance ball, and I prefer Ms. Deason's voice to all others.

5.0 out of 5 stars Balancing Ball for Beginners, February 18, 2005

I enjoyed this DVD very much. The instructor was very clear in her instructions and the setting was relaxing. The ball and a mat were all that was required to perform these exercises, which was time-saving and hassle-free. During the workout I felt a good stretch throughout my entire body without "overdoing" it and the DVD moved at a slow pace so it was easy to keep up with the instructor. I would recommend this for someone who is just learning to use a balance ball for exercise and/or stability.

5.0 out of 5 stars great REintroduction, July 26, 2006
This review is from: Balance Ball for Beginners (2006) (DVD)
I love this workout! A former Pilates junkie, I haven't been able to work out for 2 years because of various abdominal problems. This workout is the perfect re-introduction to fitness. I was able to do all the exercises even though I only had major abdominal surgery 7 weeks ago. If you have never tried Pilates, exercise ball workouts, or yoga, do yourself a favor and view the DVD *before* you attempt your first workout. You don't want to have to try to see what the instructor is doing at the same time as you are trying to do the exercises for the first time. I see this being perfect for getting me back in the swing of things, and after I am back up to speed I will go back to this for relaxation.

I was impressed by the positive reviews for this DVD, however, I found the whole DVD to be geared more for those who were totally new to exercise, all together. I would recommend this for seniors as it would be really beneficial for that age group and those with a similar level of fitness, flexibility and energy. I purchased a couple other balance ball DVD's that I really liked, including one with Susan Deason teaching, so at least I had something to compare to before writing this. I will donate this DVD to the library so that it may be of use to someone else.

5.0 out of 5 stars Balance Ball for Beginners, July 14, 2006

Once again, Suzanne Deason has created a program that truly will tone your muscles and you feel marvelous when you've completed the practice. I have, through her gentle direction, managed to lose some inches, but more importantly, my posture has improved and my flexibility has increased. For all of you who want a more aggressive program, be my guest, but if you want a program that is beneficial and that provides you with energy and a feeling of flexibility throughout the day, this is the program for you. Enjoy!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good supplement to my regular routine, July 5, 2006
This review is from: Balance Ball for Beginners (2006) (DVD)
I bought a balance ball kit from another location, but wanted a more complete workout than the sampler that came with the kit. I like the workout a lot and I think it will be a good strengthening and toning tool. I like that there is a separate relaxation workout for stress relief and I like that the workout cycles through the different body parts.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must have for balance ball users, June 27, 2006
This review is from: Balance Ball for Beginners (2006) (DVD)
I have used a balance ball for some time using the sampler DVD. I bought this DVD for more variety. I love the format where I can choose one of the three workouts for a short run or I can do all three in succession for a longer workout. I love the balance ball. It is relaxing and invigorating all at the same time. I love Suzanne Deason too. If you like low key exercise, this is the right thing for you.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Stretch and Relax!, February 26, 2006

This review is from: Balance Ball for Beginners (2006) (DVD)
I hesistate to buy this dvd cuz of some low ratings. I took a risk to try it. I'm glad I did. I felt so relaxing all the way. I don't feel any intense toning. But, lot of stretches with perfect background. Almost like body at spa! With some yoga poses, I'm glad to learn new ways to use with ball because I'm extreme inflexible. The ball helps me not to strain too much on back or legs by touching floor. With other Yoga dvds, I do use blocks and am still inflexible on some poses. It is a great change if you are not in mood for Yoga. This dvd reminds me much of Yoga conditioning for weight loss and Pilates conditiong for weight loss. Very similar with length of time and relaxing moving, except no modifications. If I'm in short of time, I use Suzanne's Balance Ball for weight loss dvd. There are mostly different moves and more toning on body. I still do feel relaxed with it. I'm giving 4 stars because some of moves I think is unnecessary like arm work{paddle, swim, dolphin}. Maybe one is enough. Balance Ball for beginners is great for extra free time and getting yourself relaxed with good stretches on a ball. Suzanne is an expert for gentle toning and using moves that are good for destressing the body.
