Ice pack carrier is good overall, but not for persons who have large knees and tend to be active. I bought an extra ice pack to always have one ready. The carrier is designed to sit and ice your knee or body part down, and not to stay active, for it will slide. I think mine slid a lot for being active and having very large knees. If you sit and ice your body part down, it is fine.

I recently had torn my ACL and meniscus and required surgery. Post surgery they gave me this thing you fill with ice and wrap around your knee. That worked well but it wasn't exactly something that stayed on my knee. I went through about 3 different types of ice packs before I got to this one.

The main problem I was having is that I couldn't get my stitches wet and having to put a towel or wrap around the other ice packs I had tried would nullify a lot of the cold. Without the cold my knee would stay swollen. You had to wrap a towel or something around them too other wise they would get a lot of condensation on them and because they were made of plastic they would just drip the water on my stitches. The other problem I found was a lot of times they wouldn't wrap around and reach all the right parts so I would have to move it and let it ice different sections of my knee.

This one does a good job of preventing both those problems. When I first got it I thought the ice pack was a little light and didn't think it would last more than 5 mins of being cold. I was wrong. It lasts about 20 mins for me and you're only supposed to ice 15ish mins. The knee wrap you put the ice pack in is nice too. The back part, which is the part where the ice pack hits your knee, is a mesh material so it kept my stitches from being wet while still being cold. The ice pack is also made in 6 sections so it wraps nicely around my knee. The other nice thing is you can just buy ice packs for it. I frequently forget/am too lazy to put my ice pack in the freezer then when I realize I need to ice my knee don't have an ice pack. I was able to just buy another ice pack for 12 bucks or so and it's kept those instances of needing to ice my knee with no ice pack at a minimum.

The only reason I took a star off is I still think it could use more ice gel. It does last about 20 mins but I'd like it to still be colder throughout the 20 mins. I also feel like the ice pack could be a little big bigger, both in width and height but it's not too big a deal because it still covers the areas I need it to hit. It would just be nice to wrap all the way around my knee and get complete coverage.

There are other icing options out there but they weren't for me. I wasn't going to spend $50+ on an ice pack I didn't plan on using more than a few months.
