Can I get more than 5 stars?, June 3, 2003

This review is from: Balance (Audio CD)
If you do some investigation into the musicians involved with this project (David Boyce, Richard Howell, David Ewell, Sameer Gupta) you may find some of the most soulful, innovative, and accomplished creative voices in music today. "Balance" brilliantly reflects the potency of these musicians' own creative abilities, and preserves each of their own styles in a common pursuit of spontaneous composition. One of the most beautiful works of modern improvisation I've heard. -s

While this is now several years old and therefore not exactly "new" jazz, it is timeless and very exciting music. Outstanding performances throughout, particularly by the horns. Hanuman's Leap is a tour de force. Highly recommended.

Mui Excellente!, March 20, 2004

I work with the drummer and he invited me to a concert at a local Jazz club here in SF. I've never really been a fan of Jazz, but after a few hours of the Supplicants, I was hooked. Very good saxists, bassist, and you can't forget the drummer. All members are great soloists, and this album is a really good image of them. Worth listening to!
