YO THIS CD IS WHAT REAL UNDERGROUND HIP-HOP IS ABOUT, I DIDNT EXPECT THAT FROM SOME CANADIANS BUT MAN ARE THEY DOPE, I LOVE THE LYRICS ALONG WITH THE BEATS AS WELL, MADCHILD JUST RIPS IT WHEN HES ON THE MIC. WITH HIS DEEP SYNICAL LYRICS, AND PREVAIL WITH HIS UP-BEAT RHYME SCHEME. ITS DEFINATELY SWOLLEN MEMBERS BEST WORK OF ALL TIME, ITS A MUST BUY.. ONE!

Swollen Members : Balance, January 15, 2000
This review is from: Balance (Audio CD)
Every hiphop head's dream is to obtain an album containing gem after gem. Release after release, we're let down. Balance wont let you down! This is the dopest overall hiphop album put out in a long time. Has collaborations with Dilated Peoples,Aceyalone,DeL,Everlast and many others. The first track is very pleasing and sort of sets the tone for the rest of the album. Track by track you're blessed with the lyrical wizardry of MadChild. He's very deep. Prevail also packs a strong punch. Overall.. I recommend this album for any listener of underground hip hop.. real hip hop. Thanks MadChild and Prevail for blessing the earth with such a great album. aaron g

Canadian Hip-Hop at its finest, May 8, 2001
This review is from: Balance (Audio CD)
Swollen Members is inneed a phat crew and they prove so with their album, 'Balance'. Madchild & Prevail deliever fast and furious battle rhymes that reminded me a bit of a cross between Evidence from Dilated and Prodigy from the Infamous Mobb Deep, while creating some dark, medieval imagery. Some of the Left Coast underground scene's finest drop a few verses on the record such as Del, Dilated, Everlast,MixMaster Mike, KutMasta Kurt, Divine Styler, Son Doobie of FunkDoobiest and Aceyalone of the world famous Freestyle Fellowship. The production is tight, although the tracks produced by the Alchemist give the group a more 'thuggish' and darker tone to their lyrics. Stand out tracks include: 'Lady Venom', 'Out of Range', 'Bottle Rocket', 'Counter Parts', 'Committed', 'Left Field', & 'Assault & Battery'
