Natasha Borzilova talks about the making of her third solo album Out of My Hands

From her early days as a classically trained child guitar prodigy, Natasha Borzilova has consistently created music that says something, and in a fresh way. That hasn’t changed with Out of My Hands, her self-produced third solo release ― and her most personal collection yet.

Since the 2006 disbanding of Bering Strait ― the group of genre-defying Russian wunderkinds ... Read more in Amazon's Natasha Borzilova Store

Editorial Reviews

Product Description

It is probably the height of self-deception to believe you can meet and know a person intimately within the span of eleven songs. But in Balancing Act Natasha Borzilova convinces you that it is not just possible but inevitable. She writes with such sensitivity and intelligence and sings with such profound emotional engagement that listening to her is like overhearing her thoughts as they form. As a vocalist, Borzilova is in that sweet-singing company of nightingales that includes Alison Krauss, Joan Baez, Emmylou Harris and Linda Ronstadt. This is an important album and a joy to listen to. --Edward Morris/writer for

5.0 out of 5 stars My Ears Are Smiling!! September 26, 2010
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I recently heard a few cuts off the album from Natasha's MySpace site and they more than lived up to my expectations. I instantly knew I had to help promote this talented young artist. Yesterday I received some of Natasha's Balancing Act CD's from her publicist that I'll be hand delivering to some local radio stations here in West Texas. Since my personal order hadn't arrived, I popped one of these station copies in my player once it was nice and quiet so I could concentrate undisturbed. Let me assure you my ears are SMILING!! Natasha's lyrics, rhythm and sheer musicality make this an instant winner in my book. I'll be playing this CD for all my friends and encouraging them to invest in one for themselves! You have to realize that my background is heavy metal, hard rock and progressive rock. Natasha's album will hold a prominent place in my highly selective collection of music. Don't hesitate in investing in yourself. This is candy for the soul!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Dreamily clear voice and brilliant guitar picking December 18, 2010
Format:Audio CD
In this, her second solo album since the dissolution of Bering Strait, the supremely talented Borzilova compresses a refreshing mix of styles punctuated by clever lines and choruses (I'd rather look a fool than never have tried; All these emotions had so many owners before me; You're never lost if there's no destination), all woven together by her dreamily clear voice and brilliant guitar picking. The sound throughout is bare, acoustic, poetic - music to cook or drive by, or to play while sitting and watching the snow fall. True to the title of the album, all the songs (which Borzilova wrote or co-wrote) are about balance between lovers and emotions, between being true to one's self and getting along. And the ancient Russian folk song, Rechka, that concludes the CD is a true gift.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Rare Gem Indeed! November 8, 2010
By Bacon
Format:MP3 Music|Verified Purchase
I'm always looking for something a little different yet more than a little awesome. There's not a lot out there (in my opinion) but this is pure awesome. It's very beautiful in many ways. The musicianship here is very thoughtful and tasty as all get out. The lyrics are magnificent. Take your time with this one. Trust me, it can take it. Every time I put it on, quite a lot, It delivers a pleasant surprise. I'm a music eatin' machine. Few of the recordings I get, get more than 2 or 3 plays. I'm lookin' for the good stuff and this is it. An acoustic masterpiece!

5.0 out of 5 stars Acoustic music at its' best September 24, 2010
Format:Audio CD
"Balancing Act" by Natasha Borzilova has been playing non-stop since I received my copy. The writing is poetic yet so accessible. I marvel that she is playing nearly all the acoustic guitar on the record...this girl is no slouch as a musician on top of being a very special singer. Each track is a real treat with its' own uniqueness all the way to the breathtakingly beautiful Russian folk song Rechka which she explains in her notes inside the album so we have a clear idea of why the song sounds so heartbreaking.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Piece of Work September 11, 2012
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Natasha is an amazing talent, who has produced an almost perfect album.
Although classified as "folk", Natasha masterfully incorporates blues
and jazz into her music.
I'm usually ecstatic if I like two or three songs on a CD. On this album,
I liked almost every song. I would highly recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars A complex deep mellow blend of melody and lyrics September 23, 2010
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Natasha is an incredibly talented lyricist, vocalist, and guitarist. Put your headphones on in a quiet room, dim the lights, close your eyes, and play this album. Listening to it now... like the deep dark fruits of a fine cabernet it should be savored slowly, quietly, and carefully. Beautiful.
