Editorial Reviews

From the Author

Sheila Evans, author of seven full-length works including novels and an autobiography, lives in a house not unlike the one that Mavis struggles with in Balancing on the Edge.  This house, a main character in the story, and Sheila herself, faces the bay-front, overlooking the Pacific. It's like living on shipboard, and the upkeep is as constant as the joy of being here.

A birthday is comming and Mavis is having trouble deciding if she is as old as her children seem to view her or as young as she feels until she looks in the mirror. I identify! The author has put Mavis down in a beautifully described setting, given her a wry sense of humor, and let the reader sit in on a comming of age story of a different sort. Sheila Evans has a very literary style about her writting tht makes reading anything she writes a pleasure.
