I didn't realize until after getting the product that it would require a voltage converter in the U.S. because it comes from China. The listing mentions toward the bottom that you need a 500 watt 110V to 220V step up voltage converter. So I had to wait again to use it after ordering the voltage converter online. I was hassled because I could not find it in stores, but it was very quick and easy to find and order online.

I am a 28 year old male, 5 feet, 9 inches, and weigh about 160 pounds. I've spent hours practicing on it over a couple days, and I have gotten noticeably better. But I'm still not off of using the training wheels provided and the orange strap to hold onto with my hands. That's because it takes immense balance skill. I noticed it is a lot easier when I trust the airwheel by not bending at the waist at all, and keeping my body rigid and stiff. Slowing down means slightly "falling" backwards without bending, that's why you have to trust the air wheel, but I became very comfortable with that because the airwheel responds quickly and well to that. It will however, sometimes force a quick turn of the wheel once you've slowed down. That's more likely if you're not on a level surface. Bending at the waist left to right as opposed to forward bending helped me steer when I didn't know how to before. There's not that much your feet can do on the platforms when they have to be planted firm. You'll want to lace up your shoes too when starting out. Going downhill at the same time as steering or going straight is the hardest thing that I have not been able to do yet. Going along a slope will more likely make you turn when and where you don't want to sometimes, but I suppose that means I need to practice more left-right waist bending and body leaning.

Yes, it takes some practice to learn how to ride. And there are easier and harder ways to ride it as well, but the frustration you feel at the beginning goes away very quickly (ignore the other reviewers suggestion to keep the body stiff! It's easier to control acceleration with your feet rather than by leaning much, and your body should be relaxed.).

I'm on day 4 of riding and I'm able to ride around town and generally start without holding on to something, though I still use the strap so that if there's an "incident" I can keep hold of the Airwheel.

I had heard of these and been intrigued, but then I finally saw someone on one and was intrigued enough to buy one. I have a bunch of the two-wheeled gas and electric scooters which are nice for short trips, but the airwheel made a lot of sense - it's much smaller, easier to store, and I don't have to lock it up because I can just carry it inside with me.

What I didn't realize was how amazing the feeling of gliding down the street is. It's an unbelievably angelic feeling which still makes me giggle. And be prepared for lots of stares and attention, because it's a strange sight to see.

Highly recommended for people willing to spend a little effort to learn something new. You know, like a bicycle. :)

This is a knock off of the original product the Solowheel by Inventist. Those wanting to purchase this should take warning. For those who don't know what a Knock-Off is, its an item that looks exactly like an original product but lacks the expensive designer label and is replaced with a fake one. Usually costs half the price with half the style appeal. The major difference in this case is the battery. The one Airwheel uses is cheap and has the tendency to overcharge if not monitored and cause a fire. So you've all been warned... purchase at your own risk!
