As precise as you could expect it to be,

Scales one would hold in hand should not be expected to be absolutely precise - this product turns out to come very close. As I travel a lot, it has now replaced my previous scales, which had to be held at the eye-level, so I could read the value (or ask somebody to look at the "display") - not very convenient when you're holding a 50 lbs. piece of luggage.
This one works with both lbs and kg, and what's very important for me, retains measured value on the screen for you to look at. It means that you can just barely lift the case and wait for a beep, then put the thing down, and look at the display. Measurements have been fairly precise, maybe off by 0.25-0.5 lb. It surely helps to plan for the airport, especially if you carry a lot of luggage which is right there on the overweight limit, which I generally do. It also has an illuminated display, a nice plus in poor lighting. Balanzza Too will reach its limit at 44 kg (97 lbs) and works with help of 2 AAA batteries (included). The bonus features I wasn't really looking for are LED flashlight and alarm clock. Didn't try the alarm, obviously one can use a cell phone for that, but the flashlight is pretty strong and could be useful. If I was to buy travel scales again, I would chose this product. It has worked perfectly for me so far.

This one particular model is way better than other Balanzza Ergonomic Digital Compact Luggage Scale. The reasons being: 1. Illuminated display
2. Alarm service 3. LED Light Above three additional features make it more marketable. I had this for the trip to India; the weighing accuracy as compared to weighing machines at the airport was within 1 pound error range. I'm extremely satisfied and did not know how I use to travel all these days without this product. I would recommend all people who travel often and happen to have many luggages needs to be weighed.

Light, easy to use, competitive price. The light option is handy, but I'm concerned the push button will be bumped "on" during an inspection and kill the batteries. I turn one battery while traveling - a switch would be better.

Works great and have taken it on a few trips. Fairly accurate and has great useful features like a LED flashlight and an alarm clock. Only issue is that we took it to someplace warm (The Caribbean) and the display screan worked a little slower and showed some funny characters when turned on but it still worked. It was probably the humidity. Once back from vacation, it works like brand new.

My friend used this before they left for the airport. I was told later that this item is considered very accurate. its just a very slight different from the airport scale. (i reckon its like 0.3 and below difference)
I'm going to bring this overseas for my next trip. For the alarm, its not bad but i wish its louder. i have bought the basic and the advance set. I think basic does it job well enough if you just want it to weight yr luggage.

Used the scale before my trip. Decided to pack it as well, so on the way back, I can use it again, but guess what- was useless. The screen was showing me funny characters, unreadable. I called and emailed to Balanzza US distributor. Such a hassle - it took me 7 weeks to finally get the replacement, after I paid to ship back the damaged product. I don't want to deal with this company again. Is not worth it the hassle and grief.

Needs Button Lock, Accurate Readings, Very Poor Quality,

This luggage scale takes up a bit too much room in my carry-on. I thought it would be slightly smaller. I do like the multiple functions although I have not used the alarm and probably never will. The blue back light is key and a very nice feature.
This scale is accurate and switches easily between Kg and pounds which was a top priority for me. The biggest negative about this scale is there is no "lock" function. My parents used the scale on their overseas trip but one of the power buttons was turned on and arrived to me with completely dead batteries. There is a big power button for the flashlight function and a small power button for the scale itself. My tip is to bring extra AAA batteries whenever you take this on a trip. The plastic feels a little on the flimsy side but I love the backlit display, Kg to pounds function, maximum weight limit, and accuracy. Since I originally wrote this review (about 4 weeks ago) the scale has now made my "top worst items" list. I have used it exactly twice since I wrote the review, both times only to weigh kittens. This time when I turned it on I thought the weight would not calibrate to zero. In actuality what happened is somehow the first digit has the first vertical section missing. When it's tared to 0.0 it looks like it is 1.0. So if the weight is supposed to be 1.5, it could actually weigh 3.5, 4.5, 7.5, 8.5, or 9.5. This renders the scale useless. Unfortunately I cannot send this back as I'm now living overseas. In the future I will never buy another Balanzza product.

I ordered this product through Amazon as a Christmas gift, and received it from the seller with no problems. Therefore, this review should NOT be considered a reflection on this or any other particular seller. Unfortunately, despite its great looks and promised performance (I read a TON of reviews of all the various luggage scales prior to buying), it failed at the most basic level from the start.
There's no rocket science in using something like this. However, you do have to be certain you are using fresh batteries (check), select the proper measurement units one wishes to use - lbs./kg (check), give the unit a chance to turn on properly and zero out (check) and generally do nothing to skew the reading by pushing or pulling on the unit prior to taking a weight reading (check). In 3 out of 3 trials, using 3 different carry-ons or empty suitcases (each weighing between 12-14 lbs.), the unit consistently provided a reading of between 20-22 lbs. This was confirmed by weighing myself with and without the various pieces of luggage on our very accurate scale. Not necessarily a scientific experiment, but absolutely confirming the Balanzaa Too's complete inaccuracy. I've had to contact the seller, who will hopefully make a full refund. This was quite disappointing, as the unit seemed to be better constructed than most, and I suppose I was sucked in the attractive packaging and presentation. Don't waste your time on this one. |
