5.0 out of 5 stars Really like it
My son is 3 months now (15 pounds) - I was caring him since he was born in a long wrap (EllaRoo) - which I still like and keep for a back carry. I like this sling because I can put my baby fast in and out, he can nurse easier then in a wrap (no adjustment needed) and also he has more room. Lately he didn't like being wrapped in a front of me, because he likes to look...

Lately he didn't like being wrapped in a front of me, because he likes to look around already. Sling gives him more room. And his head is still supported. About the negative review - I think a little patience is needed to find a right position for both. My baby used to be carried, by if someone wasn't it may simply need a time to adjust. For sure its worth a try for any mom. Oh, by the way, works good for Daddy too :)

I currently owned the Sleepy Wrap carrier before purchasing this product. My newborn baby absolutely loved the Sleepy Wrap, but it was kind of a pain getting her in and out of it as well as breastfeeding (I'm large breasted). I decided to give this carrier a try as it looked like it was easy to get her in and out and would make for more discreet breastfeeding (plus I am a fan of Dr. Sears). Anyway, it took forever to get this product in the mail (2 weeks), however, delivery aside, the product is subpar, especially for the price. My baby can only stand being in this carrier if I am constantly walking around. If I am at a sit still she hates it, whereas with the Sleepy Wrap, she falls asleep immediately sitting, standing, walking, whatever.

Anyway, I guess there is no such thing as a perfect carrier, and my daughter prefers the Sleepy Wrap carrier over this one. She is only 7 weeks old, so time will tell. I will hold onto this carrier and try again in the future, but for now, to me, it's definitely not worth the money.

4.0 out of 5 stars Must Have!!, November 21, 2008
This review is from: Balboa Baby Adjustable Sling by Dr. Sears - Geisha Trim (Baby Product)
I LOVE this product!! I was hesitant about using it at first...I was afraid that the baby would not be secure, but it has become a life saver. It's so nice to be able to have my baby so close and still have both hands free (i'm actually typing this with my son in the sling). As soon as I put him in, he immediately falls asleep...he's so comfy and cozy. PERFECT for a colicy baby. And the straps are so wide and padded that it's comfortable for me too.
My only complaint ( the only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5) is that I'm only 5'2" and the sling hangs a bit low on me, more at waist level than chest level. The only other problem I had was that my son was only 5lbs8oz when born, so he kind of got lost in the bottom of the sling, I needed to place folded blankets in the bottom before I put him in. But now he's about 7 lbs and it is perfect.
This would be a perfect shower gift!

I purchased and returned several slings before trying this one. The Infantino Sling Rider was hated by our second and third child. The Boppy sling was too awkward for me, and being short, I couldn't find a "setting" that didn't leave our baby dangling in front of my thighs, rather than my torso. I bought this as a last resort and I am REALLY glad I did! The adjustment feature rocks! Unlike the HotSlings (which we also tried), I don't need another size for my husband. We have 3 children all under the age of 5, so he will more than likely be using this sling, too! With the adjustable strap, we can both wear this sling comfortably and the adjustment is easy breezy! I also like that it comes in so many patterns - again, makes it less weird when hubby has to wear it. :-) The best thing about this sling is how comfortable it is for me and baby! The other slings made my back hurt within 15 minutes. I felt like I was hunched over or leaning back to try to distribute the weight better. With this sling, even my crooked spine feels fine even after 30+ minutes. I don't feel strained at all. Our baby SCREAMED when we tried the other slings (and we had them for several days and made several different attempts). When I put her in this one, she fell asleep. She snuggled right in and just passed right out! I'm stoked! The ONLY thing I am not crazy about is that it DOES seem to be very warm. The Boppy sling had some mesh in it to make it more breathable - I am not sure if this sling will work in the heat of the summer, but we shall see. So far, baby and I are HUGE fans - I don't know how I would ever be able to keep up with our 2.5 and 4 year old without it! One last thing - the price. They seem to cost the same everywhere I found them. Initially, I was hoping to find something cheaper. However, after buying 3 different slings that WERE cheaper and being so displeased, I am very glad we spent the money to get this one!

5.0 out of 5 stars a GOD-send!!!, December 22, 2008

I am so glad I decided on this sling. I tried 2 others: the INfantino Sling rider (Which only satisfied my newborn for a week) and the HotSling, too stiff and no adjustable straps. I ordered this solely based on the picture and that it's endorsed by Dr. Sears. I got lucky - this sling has been a GOD SEND! IT's my baby's favorite way to sleep. She was very colic-y from the beginning and this was the only way to calm her down and get her to sleep. We would swaddle her and get her in. We'd even lay her down after falling asleep safely in the sling still into her crib. It's been perfect! I'm still using it with her at 7 mos. True, if you have back problems, it's prob not going to be a positive experience for you. Also, baby may not take to the sling right at first, but keep trying it and she'll eventually cozy into it. Take this sling shopping with you, to church, to friends, restaurants - it's perfect for nestling baby so she feels safe. And you can try other positions and styles of wearing it as your baby grows. I rec. getting Dr. Sear's Baby Book as a companion to show different baby-wearing methods that work with this sling.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty nice carrier!, April 9, 2011
This review is from: Balboa Baby Adjustable Sling by Dr. Sears - Geisha Trim (Baby Product)
My son is 5 weeks old and I just started using the sling today. I really like it. I think it takes a little practice, but once you figure it out, its pretty neat! Its not painful unless you wore it all day. Let's face it - if there is more than 8 pounds attached to the front of you, you are going to feel it after awhile! My son is sleeping in it right now as I type the review. I went on the website earlier to read the instructions again - very helpful! :-)

3.0 out of 5 stars not so great for squirmy babies, March 25, 2010
By
This review is from: Balboa Baby Adjustable Sling by Dr. Sears - Geisha Trim (Baby Product)
I really wanted to like this sling (after all we spent $60 on it!) but my daughter isn't too fond of it and she squirms around so much that I'm afraid she will fall out (even when using the sling I hold her the same way I would if she wasnt in it so really what's the point?). When she was a very newborn we were able to use it and she didn't mind but at about 4 weeks it was over. I am keeping my fingers crossed that maybe she will come around (she's 4 months) but I think we are going to have to buy a traditional carrier where she can easily see and move her limbs around a bit more freely. Also I think I would feel better having her in something a bit more secure so I can do housework (like vacuuming and laundry) and hold her at the same time. The sling is pretty (we have the black and white one) and I am glad so many people like the sling, it was great when my baby was a newborn.. maybe if we would have put her in it more often she would like it now... I'm also short someone mentioned that it doesn't work as well with short people.(I'm 5'2).

Overall, I would get this as a secondary carrier (if you find your baby loves to be bundled and cuddled) because even if your baby doesn't like the traditional one at least you don't have to worry about them squirming their way out of it and potentially harming themselves. Best wishes with your little ones!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderfuly Baby Carrier, March 8, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Balboa Baby Adjustable Sling by Dr. Sears - Geisha Trim (Baby Product)
This is a wonderful baby carrier! We have the Moby, the Ergo, and this sling and our baby spends most of his time in this sling. Its comfortable to wear and compact enough to toss in the diaper bag. Our little on is safe inside; we can even transfer him to one another while he is sleeping. I would recommend this product, just keep in mind it only goes up to 25 pounds, which, if you have a large baby, can go quickly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Sling!!!, December 7, 2009
This review is from: Balboa Baby Adjustable Sling by Dr. Sears - Geisha Trim (Baby Product)
Great product!! I tried 5 different slings looking for a good option, and this is my baby's favorite by far. It took us a while to get the hang of it (and for the baby to get big enough to see out), but now he can rest in there, head supported, and see out at the same time, which he loves. This sling is much easier to safely se by oneself than other options I tried, and the padded rail makes it easy to tell if the baby is securely inside. We also use this to rock him to sleep during colicky periods -- it's a lot easier to keep at it than trying to hold him directly (he's 15 pounds and 4 months old.)

I don't have any other slings to compare this to, but this one is wonderful. I highly recommend getting one.

It is nice to be able to move around with both hands free, while still having your little one close. You can't do everything while wearing your baby, but it really does make life easier.
