I have played many games in past, but loved Balder's gate the most. Both parts are connected with a good story line. First part has 3 characters to play. Second one has 5 to start with. Once you complete mission using any of the characters, it unlocks 'Extreme' mode and also another character 'Drizzit'. Although this fellow doesnt like upgrading his weapon or armour, one can add powers to him through experience points. Best thing about this is you can bring in any character from previously saved game and complete game in 'extreme' mode. This now unlocks another character with super weapons. Love it!!
Although main theme remains same for all characters, there is a twist. Each character holds his own unique mission that is passed on to it from someone in tavern. This adds fun by switching characters and then playing their mission. I have completed this game 3 times using different characters in 2004.. 5 years back.
Only drawback in dark alliance - II is that last villian (forgot the name) is not as powerful as I imagine. I could kill it easily.
Once you complete your game, there is another story that suggests there will be Dark Alliance-3 in near future. I have been waiting for 5 years now... but none came out. I would be among first to purchase it!!
