I wouldn't pay or suggest anyone pay full price for it, but it was pretty good for the 4.50 +shipping price. Its pretty staged like most "reality" tv, but its nice to have a show that just showed normal black teens.

5.0 out of 5 stars This show was better than I expected, November 1, 2011
This review is from: Baldwin Hills - The Complete First Season (DVD)
I watched Season 2 but I never watched Season 1 until now. This is a really good show. When it initially came out, I thought it was going to be boring but I like that they show different elements of black folks and not just the stereotype. I always liked Stacey in Season 2 so I was completely thrown by how much of a rat she was acting like in the first season. Dancing is cool, but she was acting like she had stripper dreams. I agreed with Sal. At one point, I turned my head away from the TV screen because I didn't want to see her play herself like that, and I'm so glad he had a talk with her about her actions. I never did get the things she was going through to make it so hard for her to go to school, but I'm glad Sal finally talked her into it. BTW, I'm loving Sal. I'm not crazy about the body build but he's cute and he seems to be the most level-headed out of all of them.

The terrible comedian who did the "darkie" jokes could've been removed from the show. Everything about him was the type of stuff that can make a man incredibly ugly on the outside because of his inside. I caught a light-skinned joke here and there, but I thought he was kidding until he got onstage. Then, I realized he really has some soul searching to do.

I was super glad Moriah got a haircut. Once he did, he was a cutie. The way he and Gerren broke up was about the most awkward, immature way to talk to someone I've ever seen. I think the Kardashian break-ups (both Kourtney and Kim at different times) were less clumsy than this one, and I was super confused about it because Gerren was chasing Moriah heavy on the next season. I understood the reason why she broke up with him, but she did it the wrong way.

I felt really bad for Earl. The girl he called a fake Rudy Huxtable REALLY did look like Keshia Knight Pulliam. I wondered whether they were related, especially knowing her mom starred in "Polly" with Keshia. Not sure how the family dynamics worked, but she was really cruel to him. I'm sure he bounced back, but still.

Anyway I enjoyed this show. I'd definitely want to see another season, especially with the way the last one from the latest season ended.

An exciting view of our young african-american youth from different backgrounds. A study of paradoxical diversity. I enjoyed watching. Provide all of the seasons if possible
