5.0 out of 5 stars Drift away on a tropical island
What a perfect opening to the experience of this cd: the first cut features a dreamy, distant, chanting voice surrounded by a soothingly repetitive electronic progression. Strains of chords ebb and flow throughout. This is far from a spacy, new-agey list of songs. These soothe you and take you far away where the sounds caress your weary psyche. 2.0 out of 5 stars overrated
I love Bali and its spheres, I love electronic music. but this i.m.o. is some new age popular synth music with the obvious bali samples. Instead check
David Parson's Ngaio gamelan
thats beautiful art

What a perfect opening to the experience of this cd: the first cut features a dreamy, distant, chanting voice surrounded by a soothingly repetitive electronic progression. Strains of chords ebb and flow throughout. This is far from a spacy, new-agey list of songs. These soothe you and take you far away where the sounds caress your weary psyche. Deliciously blended synth sounds and traditional gamelan bells and chimes create a place where you surrender to their sheer, gossamer beauty. What a cd. Use it for yoga, or while sitting languidly on a hammock in a summer kiss of a breeze.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good but..., March 25, 2007

The first "Bali" is so good I couldn't wait to get this one too.
Although it is very good, there is something about it that can't match the sheer simple beauty of the first. There is much more synthesizer here and a lot more going on which I thinks detracts from the pure, simple sounds of peace that the first one delivered. Also, the songs do not flow nearly as well on "Dua".
If you liked the first disc you will probably like this one too but just be prepared to expect something a little more busy and synthesized.

5.0 out of 5 stars Serenity Guaranteed!, January 22, 2005
This review is from: Bali Dua (Audio CD)
Jalan Jalan has captured the essence of Bali in this beautiful work of art. Jalan Jalan means to "walk" and this music, like the ebbing and flowing of a gentle tide, invites you to take a dreamy journey on a deserted beach or a quiet forest. I wish these meditative pieces could go on..and on.. and on. This CD is guaranteed to invoke peaceful images to help calm your soul.

Their first album, Bali also is good but Bali Dua IMO is great as the musicians have become more adept at weaving in more variety with the instruments and voice whilst mantaining the same quiet and soothing quality.

I am so glad to have discovered the music of Jalan Jalan which is not your typical-spacey-new-age overworked material out there. I hope they'll release more albums.
And past reviewers, thank you!

5.0 out of 5 stars Extra-ordinary!, December 3, 2001

I have been using Julan Julan with my DreamWeaving selection for many years. Bali Dua has a very similar feel of visionary and mediatative Balanese sounds. It is very relaxing without being synthetic New Age.

Its a must for your collection if you are into meditation and tranquility with a richness that is so nurturing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Spacious and Calming, July 26, 2006

This CD sounds just like its cover looks--lots of open space and gentle washes of sound, punctuated with simple Gamelan based melodies. The previous reviewer seems to overlook the fact that this music is meant to capture a mood. It was not created to sound just like Gamelan music. When you first listen to this CD you will feel that it's somewhat sparse, but therein lies the genius. Gamelan music is very busy, so naturally people that are interested in this genre will at first be disappointed by this CD, but once you get over the clash of your own expectation with the music itself, you will be quite surprised to find that this is very enjoyable music. This is one of my favorite CD's, and for good reason; the music is very melodic, well executed, and quite comforting and gentle. You could use it for reading, Yoga, Massage, love making even :-)...Give it a try. You won't be disappointed.

I have to admit I haven't heard the entire CD yet after five times starting to listen. It is so soothing I think I am asleep before I even hit the fourth track. I bought this along with the other CD after hearing the music on Audio Visions.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not as great as the first album, June 3, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Bali Dua (Audio CD)
Although I would qualify this album as great ambient music it's not a great as the first one, Bali. On a lighter side, if you had any chance to listen to the first album and truly enjoyed it, then you won't be dissapointed with Bali Dua. Just a shame they didn't record a third album.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you loved the first CD, you'll this one too, September 24, 2008

A seamless transition from the debut CD "Bali", "Bali Dua" offers more peace and tranquility of spiritual music on an even higher level than the very fine first offering from the Japanese duo Jalan Jalan.

When the CD is played, the room transcends into a sanctuary as the music fills the room with sounds ranging from the ocean waves to bells, deep felt drums more for pulsating than for rhythm.

Beautiful ambient music that works on any level you demand of it.

5.0 out of 5 stars relaxing, May 27, 2008
This review is from: Bali Dua (Audio CD)
Great, calming CD. As background music in is calming and unintrusive. If you sit and really listen the music is stunningly beautiful. The entire CD has an even tone, meaning the mood stays soothing. It also comes with incense, which is a fun packaging idea.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bali at its best, February 27, 2003
By
This review is from: Bali Dua (Audio CD)
If you've personally experienced the magic of Bali, you'll remember her soft, fragrant breezes and a thousand friendly smiles whenever you listen to this CD. Certainly, a bit "new age," but at its core is Bali at its finest. I highly recommend it. "Step," in particular, is a joy to the heart.
