Good introduction, August 5, 2001

I really liked this CD. The tracks are primarily instrumentals of the gamelan orchestras of Indonesia. The first track is Balinese and the remaining four are Sundanese (western Java). The last track combines musical elements of the three previous tracks and adds vocals (from an actual performance). I liked the difference in mood, tone and pace between the two areas and could see/hear the comparisons between them. If you would like a CD that has both Balinese and Javanese gamelan music along with an added interest in music which is played as part of a story influential to both cultures, then get this CD and enjoy!
