5.0 out of 5 stars Delightfully spun yarn of city boys in the country., June 7, 2009
This review is from: Baling (Kindle Edition)
Bailing is a delightful yarn of a country summer for two city teenage brothers. The trials and triumphs of their time on the farm are well written and there is plenty of intrigue to keep you hitting the next page button. I would recommend this book to any young adult or a young at heart adult. I was sad to see the chapter headed Going Home.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun, quick read!, June 20, 2009

I just finished this book, and I thought it was very endearing. I thought she captured the characters really well, and made them true to life. I could see this story really happening. Whereas some stories about teens have them acting more like adults, this one kept it very real. I thought the writing was very well done, and I would certainly look at other books by this author. It is a quick read at about 3100 kindle locations, but well worth it.

5.0 out of 5 stars One incredible summer leads to a lifetime of memories, April 16, 2009

Carol Hanrahan's "Baling" is a wonderfully written coming of age story about two boys who are sent to their old aunt's farm for the summer to bale hay (hence the title). Thankfully, that's not all they'll do that summer.

Indeed, it ends up being a summer filled with adventure, mystery, rivalries, and even first love. It's a well-worn formula, but Hanrahan infuses it with life by creating page-turning situations and characters the reader can truly care about.

By the end of the novel, you'll be just as disappointed as the boys are about the summer winding down.

"Baling" is a great young adult novel suitable for all ages. After all, you're never too old to remember that first great summer.
