As a parent of two horse lovers, i found that it is hard to find a good horse gift/toy. This is really an exceptional kit. Our girl and boy painted the 3 horse carvings (they are 3 dimensional wood)with the paints. They attach the included magnet onto one and made ornaments with the other 2 for their grandparents with the gift tags included. the pamphlet was interesting and educational and the box has many horses to paint as reference. they loved it. the only suggestion i would add is to have another kit that is a "deluxe" version.

I bought this kit for my niece who is 11. She really enjoyed painting the horses as she loves horses and crafts, so the combination was fantastic. I think the kit is great fun for most children, but I was a bit surprised at how little there was to the kit. My only complaint is that these horses are very fragile and can be broken quite easily. She broke one of hers while painting it. Another was also broken right out of the box. I would recommend you keep that in mind when purchasing it. Make sure the kids are very careful with them, and you might want to inspect the box before giving it to them. All in all, a great craft kit in my opinion.

This kit is Great for any horse lover! I bought four of my children a kit for Christmas. Two girls and two boys, ages 5 to 14 years old, they all loved painting the horses. Would really like to see a delux version, because they have already painted all three horses that came in their kits. They used the pictures on the box for reference. They had a blast painting them, a couple were even given away as gifts on Christmas Day! Excellent Craft Set! Lots of FUN! I would recomend this item for any age group! If your child loves horses and painting they will ADORE this set!

I bought three of the Horses kits, they had a fabulous time and my husband and I enjoyed the night much better with them painting, creating and laughing away rather than watching TV or playing electronic games. My daughter was given another horse kit about 2 years ago and she still played with them pretty regularly and sit on her night table. They bring back memories.

For the above reasons, I am quite fond of the kit, I also love the fact that the horses are hand done from solid wood. I guess other cheap plastic horses will be more durable for my five year old son but i do not think paints can stick to plastic well and my daughter likes natural wood. For my 8 year old daughter, she plays with the horse but does not bang them on the floor so they are still as good as new after 2 years.

I have given the same kit to three of my daughter's friends birthday parties and two moms raved about it. I would like to see a large deluxe kit for craft party.

My daughter is a horse fanatic, so she loved this gift. She is able to use her imagination and artistic gifts to paint them to her liking. They are made of sturdy wood as well. They are attractive displays on her dresser.

I bought one for Christmas for my 5-year-old niece, who is a big horse fan. She had so much fun painting them and playing with them! We also attached the hanging loops to them and hung them on the Christmas tree. Now I want to buy another dozen kits and give one to her every year so that we can have a whole series as she grows. Very cool toy.

There are only three horses to paint. The paints seem nice and in good containers. My set came with only one brush! I am sure my three little girls will enjoy this toy very much. I went to a craft shop today and bought more wooden horses so they could paint to their hearts content. For the high price of the toy I was a little disappointed in the small number of wooden horses!

I bought this kit for my 9 year old sister-in-law and she enjoyed painting the wooden models. There was plenty of paint and she mixed some of the colors (the instructions give good recommendations). She also painted the cards with the names of the horses she decided on. I was impressed with the instructions, horse facts, and helpful tips that came with the kit; the little wooden figurines are even hand carved. One of the horses she painted became a Christmas ornament (the string and magnets were a nice touch). Overall, it's a great kit.

I bought this horse kit for my 10 year old daughter for Christmas. The kit was much smaller than I thought it would be and one of the horses in the package was broken. It appears to be made of a cheap wood/material. I would not recommend this toy to anyone! I am very surprised that this toy won an award for "Best Toy". What a disappointment!!!!

Taking into consideration the reviews of others that the horses may arrive in pieces, I purchased this item for my niece because she loves horses. It arrived today and -- as warned -- one of the horse legs was broken off. It appears that it can be glued back on without much effort and I will do so before gifting it to my niece, however, this review will add to the fair warnings that your horses too may arrive legless or headless and to be prepared. I expect the product to be well received, but I have given this product an average rating because the consumer should not be responsible for pre-use repairs.
