This review is from: Ball Creative container one gallon ideal jar
While reading some of the previous reviews of this product I was highly confused, then I realized those reviews should have been for another Ball jar. This jar is not the one with the spigot. It simply has a gasket style lid which creates a great airtight seal. This jar is perfect for making sun tea. I think this jar would be perfect for the reviewer that was wanting a jar to make, store, and serve tea in.

Does not fit my needs,

I have been searching for a glass iced-tea dispenser that I could actually make the tea in, store in the refrigerator, and use to dispense the tea into my glass. The product description was pretty meager, so I just had to hope for the best. It turns out that the unit fits none of these requirements of mine. Since S&H was already quite expensive to get the unit, I have no desire to send it back, only doubling that cost to myself. Instead, I am giving away the unit. For someone else, it may be perfect. For me, it is anti-perfect, and here's why:
1) It's too large to fit into my refrigerator. Even if it fit, I would be afraid it would be too heavy for the shelves, when filled to the brim. 2) It came with directions NOT to make the tea directly in the jar. 3) The lid and sealing mechanism is awkward and falls apart a lot during assembly. 4) The spout diameter is quite small and affords only a rather slow rate of dispensing: Your hand kind of gets tired holding the glass up to it to fill it! 5) The spout opening mechanism does not contain even a hint of a stop. You twist it to get more flow, and all of a sudden the cap is in your hand and the fluid from the jar is running all over the place. If you had a party, you'd need to have a warning note to your guests about this issue! The one saving grace about the unit is that it does not leak. Another is that once the lid and brace are placed, the seal seems fairly secure. Still, there's not enough on the plus side for me to keep it. We've used Ball jars for generations in my family, and I really expected something useful to me. Obviously, I'm disappointed and a little irritated at the waste of money.
