Ball Canning Jars & Lids

It's easy to show your creation in its best possible light.

When it comes to canning, there's nothing more important than a quality seal. It ensures that no oxygen gets into the canning jar after processing and that your food will remain preserved just the way you created it.

Ball Jar Banner

Ball Brands of Fresh Preserving Canning Lids have been crafted for quality in the U.S. for more than 125 years. Ball Jar's manufacturing facility in Muncie, Indiana, produces each lid with a custom, time-tested sealing compound with an underside coating so that the natural acids in your food will not react with the lid.

You can trust that each jar is every bit as genuine as the creation inside it.

I bought these jelly jars because they're small enough for single servings of my homemade yogurt. (Big servings - 8 oz as opposed to the 4-6 oz you get at the supermarket) I make a lot of yogurt because we have a lot of yogurt eaters here, and I wanted to be able to store it all in the fridge, safely covered, and eliminate extra dishes. I also bought the plastic lids, and I'll be using the sealing lids that came with them for my next bout of making jelly and jam, using older jars that no longer have lids. (I'm notably stingy; nothing goes to waste around here! If we don't eat it, wear it or use it, it gets composted or otherwise recycled)

I especially like that they are glass, which I prefer for storing food when possible, and they're reasonably hard to break (unless you have concrete floors!) I use jars in all sizes, up to gallon, mainly for storing canned or dehydrated vegs, but I use these little ones the most. They are so versatile.

I love these little jars for so many things - seasoning powders made from dehydrated, finely ground vegetables from my garden, exotic jams and jellies for us and for gifts (Kiwi preserves, anyone? genuine mint jelly from homegrown mint), dehydrated soup mixes for gifts...

These cups have dozens of uses. We originally bought them to "can" herb-infused honey for Christmas presents (I'll put a note about herb-infused honey below). The jars are great for this use because they seal perfectly and the "crystal" style makes them cute gifts. I am also planning on using them to make my own beeswax candles, and a friend uses them to make strawberry freezer jam for gifts.

A surprising and awesome use for our family is snack cups for my one and three year old daughters! They are perfect serving size and very durable. We limit the plastic and disposable products in our household, so these are perfect for kids' snacks!

Herb Infused Honey:
Simmer a bunch of herbs in raw honey for 20-30 minutes or mix herbs with raw honey and let it "steep" for a couple of weeks. We usually use 2-3 tablespoons of dried herbs per cup of honey. We made two batches: lavender-chamomile and sage. The sage can be used as cough syrup or to flavor savory dishes like pork tenderloin.

I am trying to avoid using plastic whenever possible.I especially didn't want to use plastic storage bags for my precious liquid gold, and then use our glass bottles. It seemed to defeat the whole purpose of using glass bottles in the first place. I've searched high and low for a suitable glass storage for freezing breast milk and in near future baby food. Other glass baby food storage systems are either expensive or lids aren't air tight. I have finally found a solution. These are freezer safe and store just the perfect amount of milk or food for baby. I purchased the "Ball dissolvable labels" so I can easily date and re-date items. I also purchased the "Ball regular mouth storage caps", as they will never be in direct contact with the food and are BPA free. I find that these plastic lids are suitable for sterilization and can be used repeatedly. BONUS: These are less expensive than buying glass storage systems made for storing baby food such as Sage Spoonfuls or Green Sprouts.

This is my third time buying here in Amazon these jars..I got the 32OZ then the 16OZ now I am back to get the 8OZ ..I use them as drinking glasses and to store my fruit and vegetable juices..I love them..I dont use plastic at all ..I either use stainless steel or glass ..there was a reviewer who said she saw them cheaper in Walmart..she is wrong..this company ( Ball )prices are the same no matter where you buy them..Walmart sells their cheap thin glass made in China which breaks easily even just washing them for $7 but Walmart also sells the Ball jars for the same price as here in Amazon..go to the Walmart website so you can confirm what I am saying here ..the difference is Walmart charges you tax and shipping..or you can go to the store and pay tax gas and be annoyed with the crowds...you get what you pay for....I much rather deal with Amazon great customer service and quick delivery than with Walmart...your choice..I give them 100 stars!

I needed jars for baby food. I really wanted to purchase glass jars. I looked at Wean Green jars and Green Sprouts jars, however those were EXPENSIVE. As a mom, I'm short on time. I wanted to make all sweet pea puree one week, then poached pears, etc., freeze the food and pull from the freezer. I needed several jars to make my plan work. Purchasing 24 to 36 jars from another brand would be EXPENSIVE. I decided to give the Ball jars a try instead (plus they have metal lids versus plastic). The Ball jars work! The food freezes beautifully! Yay!

I was looking for something small enough to put in my own DIY lotions and creams and this really fits the bill! Great product!

I bought these puppies for candle making and they are wonderful, solid glass jars and seal up pretty well too.
