I bought this product so i can put hot soup that will not spill out. There are four jars and associated four lids in the set. The only problem is there is a crack in the center of two of the lids. The soup seeps out through the crack when the jar is laid on its side.

These containers are marketed as freezer containers, but we use them for all sorts of things. We use the smaller ones (w/the purple lid) as snack containers for our 2 1/2 year old and for freezing baby food for our 8 month old. We use the larger one with the green lid to store leftovers, freeze soups, and even to store odds and ends. Because they are marketed as freezer containers they have an air-tight lid. This makes them way better than 90% of the containers that are made for kids snacks. Every time I leave snacks in those that are traditionally marketed for kids snacks they go stale in a day or two. They last in these! Also, the lids snaps on to the bottom of the container, so it give the container a nice no-tip base and keeps the lid from getting lost!

As for freezing. I have used them for baby food and soups as I mentioned before. Tomato, blueberry and strawberry have not stained the plastic. I have yet to experience a smell or taste that lingers. I've had them for about 10 months so I think I'm safe.

They clean easy, they store easy. Overall I love then and cannot think of any drawbacks. I would buy again and have bought again--over and over as my need calls for greater supply.

Just discovered like most others, my lids are cracked too. I've had these about two years and have used them less than five times each. I was pretty excited about them when I got them, too, as they are a perfect side and the lids go on/off very easily. I freeze peppers and tomatoes from my garden and these were a much-needed item to keep my veggies fresh until I needed them.

Now with them having a crack in the middle, they are useless in my freezer. I suppose you could use them in the fridge for non-liquid items, but that's not why I bought them.

I do like that the lids stack on to one another, but the poor quality means I won't be buying these again.

I plan on contacting Ball to see if they will offer a replacement. As of this writing, three out of eight lids are cracked. See my posted photos for examples.

Would not recommend!

EDIT: I did contact Ball and they DID send out replacement lids. I will post back if they crack, too. So far, so good.

I bought these primarily for freezing juices from my juicer or smoothies when I made too much, and they have been great for that. I like the screw top, and I haven't had any problems with leaking. The bottoms of each one are supposed to screw into the lid of another one, but that is not as effective as I thought it would be. It just doesn't seem to lock into place very well, so I just don't stack them. Other than that, I like these and I may buy some more before winter for freezing soups to take to work.

I bought these to use for a freezer chutney. Until I did that I will say I didn't use them much other than for a few leftovers. However last week I "put up" 8 jars of the chutney. I went to open one yesterday and found the top cracked. When I checked the others, 5 also were cracked.
So...no more of these in the freezer for me! Too bad...I have the larger ones also, but I'm not going to use them.

I actually purchased these at my local Walmart. I purchase one package and only used one once. When I went to use another that had never been used I found a crack in the center of the top!!! I checked all of them and each had a similar crack. Upon checking here I see there are similar complaints. Now I'm out my money and have no storage containers. I sent an email to Ball but have yet to receive a response.

I purchased this product and loved it. It was sturdy and worked well. However, after a few uses, one-half of the twenty covers I owned develped a crack in the center of the lid. Thus, the containers were no longer air tight and useful for liquids. I have contacted Ball and am waiting for directions. It seems the covers are faulty.

I loved these containers too....until I noticed the small cracks in the covers. I just use these containers for leftovers....so freezing or overfilling should not be a reason for the cracks. I am very disappointed in Ball....I always considered them to be a top notch company.....I guess that has changed. Too bad!!

These containers are the perfect size for a single serving of soup. I make lots of soups in the fall and this container seals so well...it works perfectly for freezing and doesn't take up much room in the freezer. I would highly recommend them.

I ordered 2 sets of four and put them through a dishwasher rinse on the top rack the day I received them. Two of the lids came out cracked. I really like the concept so I'm returning one set and reordering. I shall hand wash them from now on.
