These jars are great for freezing baby food! They won't break and they are safer that plastic, with no toxic chemicals to leach into the food.

Great size for giving small gifts of jelly to co-workers and friends. Cute container and seems sturdy enough.

Perfect for baby food - but lids rust quickly,

I make my son's food - puree veggies, fruits, and meats. I freeze them in trays then transfer the cubes to large freezer bags. At night we put two cubes of each food for the next day in separate jars. Right now that's three jars each for lunch & dinner plus one for breakfast so the 12 pack is good for my needs. Even though we are putting two ounces in a four once jar, it is a tight fit since they are frozen solid. We just leave them on the counter for a short time so they thaw enough to squash down and get the lids closed. They heat well in the microwave and travel well in an insulated bag. The lids fit tightly so there are no leaks. As a time saver we also measure out two tablespoons of cereal into a jar at night - the next morning just add the formula and start feeding. There is still enough room to add a cube of fruit if he's really hungry. They do freeze well, no cracking. The jars are cute and thicker than I thought they would be which is a bonus. Overall I am very happy with these jars and would recommend them to anyone needing baby food jars.
***Update*** I am removing two of the stars - the inside of the metal screw lids get rusty very quickly of you don't dry them immediately after washing. It comes off with the scrubby side of a sponge but that shouldn't happen.

I purchased these jars for making my own baby food. I did not want to use plastic containers because of the chemicals and they trap bacteria. I was looking for small glass jars and I did not want to purchase baby food just for the jars like so many of my friends did.
These were PERFECT. They freeze, fit in my 'First Years' bottle warmer and microwave. They close tight and keep the food fresh. I would highly recommend these jars to any and all moms who want to make their own food.

Extremely useful...who'd a thought!,
This review is from: Ball Quilted Jelly Canning Jar 4 Oz., Case of 12
These little 4-oz jars are really cute, and are lovely for making special or exotic jams and jellies, dry sauce mixes, soup mixes for a single person, etc. They can also be used for storing (and gifting) home grown herbs and spices. Because they are Mason canning jars, they can be sealed safely in a pressure canner.
You can store the smallest items, from the toolshop to the sewing room. Best of all, use them for your homemade(organic, of course!) baby foods! They can be sealed, used again, and freshly sealed with new lids, all the way from first foods until baby is eating regular table foods. No waste, and the best possible for your child.

Great product. 4 oz jelly jars are hard to find at retail stores. Great for freezing breast milk in small amounts.

Very best storage for baby food,

These are the best containers I've found for homemade baby food.
We are thrilled with how easily these clean up in comparison to the plastic containers. You can really scrub the thick glass, and if you choose to use them in the dishwasher, they're heavy enough to stay in place -- they won't get blown around like small plastic containers, landing upside-down and gathering gunk that you need to wash out later. We like the fact that we're avoiding most plastic for my son's food containers, especially when freezing, microwaving, and using a baby food/bottle steam heater. The thick glass has yet to be damaged by my rambunctious son. They're the perfect size. And we'll be able to use them once my son is finished with baby food. One of the best baby values out there, in my book. We also have the Jarden #1440036010 Ball Plastic Canning Jar Cap, Set of 8, which sometimes come in handy. I realize that some may buy these jars to avoid plastic entirely, but our family likes these for transporting already-heated food.

The glass is rated for freezing which makes it ideal for baby food. Never liked the idea of freezing baby food in plastic providing less of a seal between the food and the freezer environment.
