5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible!
A stunning collection of beautiful ballads from the one and only Lana Lane! While her other releases vary quite a bit, going from mellow to heavy, this one is all ballads, all the time. Lana Lane's special edition cd's are a shining example of how to do a special edition that is truly worth buying. Many of these songs have been at least partially re-recorded for this...

3.0 out of 5 stars Lana tries symphonic pop but hardly succeeds
I was a bit disappointed here when I finished listening to this double CD. Songs here are performed with amazing professionalism not to mention that Lana is still in her best vocal form. But out of twenty-four tracks where are the ones that really give you pleasure, the songs which literally lift you up and make you forget (at least for a second) all about your mortal...

Lana Lane's special edition cd's are a shining example of how to do a special edition that is truly worth buying. Many of these songs have been at least partially re-recorded for this album, which is actually the Ballad Collections 1 & 2, with a few new songs thrown in. I love this woman's voice, it wraps itself around you in a warm embrace and soars like an eagle through the sky. Her cd's are all awesome, but even among the great, this one stands out. Every song is a classic that you will want to hear time and again. From the opening Netherlands to the last song, you'll be in heaven. WHY this woman isn't famous world wide for her incredible singing is a complete mystery to me.

I was a bit disappointed here when I finished listening to this double CD. Songs here are performed with amazing professionalism not to mention that Lana is still in her best vocal form. But out of twenty-four tracks where are the ones that really give you pleasure, the songs which literally lift you up and make you forget (at least for a second) all about your mortal self and everyday mundane stuff? I counted three - cover of Elton John's "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" done very professionally but without any earth-shattering revelations (still great, though!), "Ghost Beside My Bed", "When Time Stood Still". Couple of others are repeats from other albums - "Through The Fire" and "take A Breath" are fine examples but we've heard them already. Oh yeah, Beatles' "Across The Universe" is quite good - but it is another cover. Hmm... I don't want to repeat what I have already pointed to in my review for Lana's "Covers Collection" but wouldn't it be much much nicer if she just released "Greatest Hits and Covers" double album instead? It's really time for that, I say!
