Issa is a Kurdish singer with a difference. His first album is a truly original recording.While he sings with passion the mostly traditional kurdish songs, he does so with a modern feel, and infuses a lot of new ideas.He plays the guitar and the saz (the traditional turkish/kurdish instrument),complemented throughout by classic piano, which gives the songs a new life. He has also has a very strong,clear and beautiful voice. This CD is not only a good introduction to Kurdish music, but to World music in general from any country. He has released another CD which is all instrumental, and a must buy too, but start with this one, and you will not be disappointed, but pleasantly surprised as I was! |
