Decent collection-could've been better,

I have been listening to Gary Moore for several years. This isa decent collection of slower songs and some of his blues. The tracksthat are previously unreleased are a nice addition for acollector. However, I also own Still Got The Blues and After Hours andprefer those albums as they are versus the sampling here. Putting anedited version of a song on any disc is .... If you want to samplesome of Gary's faster and harder rock, I suggest the OUT IN THE FIELDScollection or trying to find THE EARLY YEARS collection which was putout by WTG records in 1991.

I just cannot believe someone can play guitar so well. I am a guitar player myself but could never image blues could be played with so much soul and feelings. This will be a great album for audience who loves blues and guitars. This will definitely be you best buy.

Really Great CD,

I heard the song Parisienne Walkways on tv and decided to check into who performed it, and it was Gary Moore. So.. I bought this CD knowing nothing about him or his music and was very pleasantly surprised. I think this is a great CD if you like jazz, blues, rock, etc. - it really has a mix of many different types of music and I could detect influences in the music from a variety of different groups, like the Scorpions, Journey, and Dire Straits. The CD has 14 tracks, and all of them are long, so it's a really good deal too.

Although I am not a big fan of Gary Moore, I own 6 of his albums in my collection.
My personal opinion, none of his albums is consistent beginning to end. This album, compiled from his previous releases includes his best soft Rock songs; great singing, great guitar; if I have to own 1 album for Gary Moore. This is definitely the one.

On this Album you can find the best ballads ever. Gary Moore has got such a great talent, his guitar-play, his voice, his lyrics...its perfect! There are many people in love out there, but only a few who really understand love, like him. Gary rocks! PS: I was listening to "I'm always gonna love you" when me and my first love went "separate ways"...

An excellent example of what blues-rock should sound like.,

Someone who works in my wife's office heard some Walter Trout on her CD player and brought in "Blues Alive" for us to try out. What an excellent CD! Of course I had to feed my blues appetite and ordered several Gary Moore CD's right away, including this one. I have to give it an A+ rating. From the mellow tracks to the ripping solos Gary Moore manages to fuse his rock background with some great "heart-felt" blues into a style all his own. I am very impressed with how many tracks were original works, proving himself as not only a performer but an excellent writer as well. Well Done!

Intense and soulful,
This review is from: Ballads & Blues 1982-1994 (Audio CD)
Gary hits the notes with a rare intesity and emotion, and it gives all the songs an added dimension. Soulful, melodic and powerful compositions, they get you into the 'ballads & blues' mood straight away, if you are already not into it! This will be a worthy addition to any music collection. Go for it. I had bought a cassette of this in my college days about 7 years ago, and the songs have a very special appeal to me 'cos they also gave me hope in my personal life.

I was not familiar with Gary Moore until I saw several figure ice dance teams skate to his music - and spent hours attempting to identify the music, which turned out to be Still Got the Blues and Parisienne Walkways. When I discovered this cd and starting playing it, I was overwhelmed with appreciation - not only are these two renditions exceptional, but most of the other music on the cd is just as superb. This is a cd I listen to hours on end - both Gary's voice and the accompaniment penetrate deep into one's soul....and are indeed the musical equivalent of the perfect massage. It is one of my top five favorites....and the best blues music I've ever heard. Highest recommendations!

One Song Sold Me On This CD,

This review is from: Ballads & Blues 1982-1994 (Audio CD)
I bought this because of an in-store play of the song "Seperate Ways"! What passion this guy plays and sings with! It's a good release over all, but I keep coming back to "Seperate Ways". It's a song that reminds me of the best of the 70's style ballads that went beyond the bubble-gum junk of the era. This has teeth!
