5.0 out of 5 stars great book for young dancers and performers, July 26, 2000
This is a wonderful book for any young dancer or performer feeling too much a part of the crowd. Nina is a young ballerina who although might not be the best in the class has her whole heart in it. She's worried that her mother won't be able to recognise her in the show at the end of the year and is disappointed when she does not get the role of the queen butterfly, who wears a crown and is easily distinguished from the other dancers. As the recital draws nearer, Nina is more and more worried about not being seen. But an accident in which she breaks her arm saves the day: she has to dance with a cast, making her clearly visible and distinguishable to her mother. A great book for any young performer. I've remembered it ever since I read it quite a while back when I was just starting ballet. I'd strongly recommend it. :o)

5.0 out of 5 stars This book is great for young kids, November 28, 2002
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Nina, Nina Ballerina (Turtleback School & Library Binding Edition) (All Aboard Reading: Level 1) (School & Library Binding)
I like this book because I wanted to be a ballerina. It told me what ballerina's do and how they dress, and what types of dancing they can do.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of my 3yo daughter's favorite books!, October 17, 2000

By coincidence, my daughter was taking this book everywhere when she broke her own arm. She'd learned to read it about 2 weeks before her own fall in the park (just like Nina without the ballet moves!). Ms. O'Connor and Ms. Disalvo-Ryan include enough small incidental details about fractures to make the whole process of "arm-repair" unthreatening to my small child. Xrays, cast, Nina in pain in the park and on the examination table all comforted my daughter during her ordeal. And those incidental details never detract from the whole finely told and entertaining tale. As in all 3 of the Nina books, the emotions of the heroine (feelings common to most young children) are finely illustrated and carefully explored and resolved. Thank you Jane and Dyanne!

This was the first one I purchased and have
since added more and more and more. It was
exciting for our granddaughter to receive
several books to start her "my own library".

5.0 out of 5 stars A Ballerina Star!, November 30, 2001
By

This is a wonderful book for any child who feels they just blend in,either in dance or life itself. It teaches them that when you do your best, you will be noticed for what you can do. Your personal best will let you shine to those who love you. Never let other people intimidate you.
