The score consist of an overture & 12 dances, including pantomimic & comical dances as well as bourees, gavottes, & menuets. The music is characterized by a mixture of modal & tonal harmonies, & its metrical shifts & melodic twists suggest the lively comedy of Beachamp's dancing.
