5.0 out of 5 stars Ballet Shoes, August 1, 2000
By
This review is from: Ballet Shoes (Hardcover)
I absolutely love this book. It has such an enjoyable plot. I think any child who has dreams of being a ballet star should read this book. It has been the best reading experience I've had in my lifetime. This book is wonderful for people of all ages. Noel Streatfeild is an excellent author, and I recommend reading all the shoe books!

This book is about a challenge. A challenge not everyone could meet. It begins with a fossil hunter who finds more "fossils" then his niece bargained for when he brings home three orphaned girls. The girls grow up and realize that they have no true surname. They adopt the name Fossil and thus begins the story of the Fossil Family. Taking the advice of a boarder in their house, Pauline, Petrova, and Posy set out to make the name Fossil known to all. Sent to a stage school, the girls each find out their own special talent. This book helps young readers to realize in a fun way their own special gifts.

4.0 out of 5 stars Three sisters who choose their own paths in life., September 24, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Ballet Shoes (Hardcover)
Set in England, three adopted sisters struggle to make the name of Fossil great. This story is for girls who enjoy reading about lives outside of thier own backgrounds of experience. The dancing school, and its attendant worries and triumphs, is fascinating enough to inspire participation in the arts, as well as longing for the other books in this shoes series. Well worth the effort of finding.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ballet Shoes, a wonderful book!, May 27, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Ballet Shoes (Hardcover)
I read Ballet Shoes for my R&D project at my school. It is a very interesting book, though it lacks humor, it makes up for that in character development and description. It seems to have been written in a different style than we use today, but with the way authours use many different styles, it fits right in. It is a great book for little girls wanting to grow up to be a dancer.

5.0 out of 5 stars absolutely wonderful, July 18, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Ballet Shoes (Hardcover)
I first read this book at about 9 or 10. I still adore it and reread it every so often. While the story is pure fantasy, the minds and hearts of the three little girls are true to life. The London setting evokes a feeling of the far away and magical. I recommend this to children and adults alike.

I loved the "shoes" series as a child, especially ballet shoes. it takes me back to a time when I discovered the pleasure of reading. these books are great, it is a pity they are so hard to come by now. A definite must-read for young girls.

5.0 out of 5 stars well written and wonderful characters, September 21, 1997
By A Customer
This review is from: Ballet Shoes (Hardcover)
Posy, Petrova, and Pauline are well-developed and realistic characters. For the time you spend reading "Ballet Shoes", they are your best friends, each one unique and memorable in her own way. They really make this story as wonderful as it is.
"Ballet Shoes" is well written and has a topic matter that appeals to most children, though it lacks humor. The conflict could be more troublesome, but generally, it's nearperfect the way it is now. I highly reccomend this book
