This review is from: Ballets Russes Style: Diaghilev's Dancers and Paris Fashion (Paperback)
I have purchased many books on Ballet Russes. The best book that I have is 'Ballet Russes and the art of design.'
It is twice the size of the book under this review; the photographs and images are more appealing because it is in larger format. Also, the author's style is better, far more intruiging, but it is on a wider range of subjects. If you want the best value, the Ballet Russes and the art of design is better for sheer size of the images. The Ballet Russes Style has some intriguing details as well. Professor Davis' style is mild and dull. I have several books, written by professors. They all have the same bland style. I would also strongly recommend the DVD, Ballets Russes. That is sensational. |
