Sure to thrill even the most diehard baseball fan, Ballpark Classics is the most realistic tabletop baseball game every made. From its turf-like felt playing field to the scoreboard overlooking the diamond, Ballpark Classics goes the extra mile, creating a masterful game that combines timeless baseball strategy with foosball-like action. As any baseball fan will acknowledge, the game starts with pitching: Player one begins by dropping a steel baseball into the pitching pipe, and then squeezes it with his or her thumb or fingers. By changing your finger placement and adjusting the force, you can throw fastballs, curves, changeups, sliders, and even create your own pitches. It's easy to do but challenging to perfect--just like real baseball. Batting, on the other hand, is all about timing, bat speed, and getting inside the pitcher's head. Swing on time and you'll find yourself rounding the bases. Swing over the ball and you'll head back to the dugout. The game is so realistic that you can even get called out on a check swing.

Perhaps the coolest part about Ballpark Classics, however, is the authentic ballpark setting. The body is made of fine, precisely crafted hardwoods, with a nonwoven fabric playing field that looks just like the turf at your favorite ballpark. The scale is just as authentic, with a design that supports the dimensions of your favorite parks (the game comes with a default ballpark, but other MLB ballparks, called Parkpacks, are also available). And the game itself is precision-engineered to use gravity, physics, and friction to create an amazing baseball experience that needs no batteries or electricity. Pitching, hitting, walks, strikeouts, home runs, and situational strategies--it's all there except for the smell of freshly mowed grass.

Playable alone, head to head, or with teams, each Ballpark Classics game takes about 20 minutes for a full nine. Whether you're a baseball purist, a casual fan, or a serious gamer, Ballpark Classics is a terrific choice. The game, which is officially licensed by Major League Baseball, comes with 30-plus MLB mini felt pennants for stadium customization. The game measures 34 by 8 by 30 inches (W x H x D) and requires some assembly.

[[VIDEOID:mo1FTHPWKML4RQE]]Alright.... Here is the detailed run down of my experience with Ballpark Classics.

GREAT INSTRUCTIONS:
Poor instructions often lead to poor reviews. I like to look at the instructions of a product as an extension of manufacturer's customer service. "I need help putting this product together, so please give me something that makes perfect sense so I do not have to ask for help." I do not know what was better, the easy to follow and understand step by step written instructions, or the VERY clear visual pictures. Ballpark Classics met me at my level and made very clear the process of assembly.

EASY ASSEMBLY
I spread out all the neatly organized parts on the floor and began assembly, with the help of my 3 year old. EVERYTHING went together exactly as described.......the first time. My assembly time was just a touch over 20 minutes, but there was a part of me that did not want it to end. It was a fun process and made me feel just little like Ray Kinsella from that ever so famous movie. I got caught up in the moment and looked at my daughter and said, "If you build it, they will come." With a smile on my face and a confused look on hers, we exchanged high fives just like we do every time she finishes a task successfully. Just looking at this ball field was pleasing in itself. It could not get more realistic in design and detail than
what Ballpark Classics has put together.

PLAYS EVEN BETTER THAN IT LOOKS
Keep in mind, my first time playing this game was with my daughter....who is 3. Her first pitch was a strike and so my first swing. What a great game for teaching yourself, and your kids hand/eye coordination. After a little while we both got the hang of it and things got pretty exciting.

I purchased this as a bday gift for my grandson. I had reservations as it is truly a step back in time & was concerned that the "video game" generation would find it boring. Fortunately, my grandson and his family love and and they have spent many hours over the last few days playing it together. Obviously, my grandson and his family like baseball and understand it, but again, it's not a video game. It's nostalgia in the 21st century, and it was a great gift.

I picked one of these up last Christmas and my kids (16, 15, 10 & 5) immediately started playing; my 5-year old daughter has even learned to "pitch" a wicked curveball. It's been 10-months and the game still has a prominent spot on my living room table and we'll play a couple of games a week. The action is very realistic and everyone is learning about tracking balls and strikes and patience at the plate.

The game arrived very well protected in custom double boxes and the fit and finish is excellent. I haven't noticed any significant wear on the parts (even though my 15-year old son tries to go downtown on every swing of the bat). It has appealed to all generations and even my non-baseball loving wife.

If you are a baseball fan, I highly recommend this game.

I am 26 and thought this would be a good game for the game room. One of the best table games I have ever played and this is the new favorite game in the game room. If you like baseball at all, get this game!

I purchased this game for my husband. My adult son assembled the board on Christmas Eve and discovered that one of the wooden frame pieces was not attached properly. (My fault for not thoroughly checking the board when I opened the apparently undamaged package upon delivery 10 days prior.) I considered returning the product, but my son reassured me that he could easily tack the frame in place with some supplies he brought with him on Christmas morning, which he did.

But then the baseball bat came off its metal barrel on Christmas morning as we started to play. I got out the glue gun and reattached it.

I thought the price was high for the product, but after reading the other reviews about the quality construction and how much fun it is to play, I felt that it must be worth it. (I paid $224. Now as I write this on Christmas evening, I see that the price is down to $173.) Oh well, who knew?

All that said, we (all 11 of us) did have fun playing the game.

The MLB Baseball Game was delivered as advertised.. The assembly instructions were amply detailed and easy to follow. The game is bigger than I expected, and it feels like solid construction and quality materials. Much better than the plastic alternatives.

It's been fun to play too.

This is an amazingly beautiful game, so well made and thought out. It was all that I expected based on other reviews and lets face it, the price. I thought I payed attention to measurements, but the downside is that it's HUGE. In my opinion this would be something that's perfect for a billiards room. But we have a 2200 sq/ft home (no billiard room here) and I'm at a loss. It doesn't fold and since it's such a beautiful game, I don't want to just put it in a closet on its side and you can't really because of the shape of the field. You can't really play on the floor so it really needs a designated table and finding a large enough table other than in the kitchen is tough. It's sort of the equivalent of having a 1000 piece puzzle that takes months to put together and prevents anything else from happening on that table.

As the marbles are hit and filter down, it's hard to get them to fall into the small tin provided to catch them. As you play the game shifts and the tin gets out of alignment so you inevitably have them rolling all over the places. I think there is a way to remedy this, but we haven't looked into it closely enough.

This was a big hit on Christmas Day, our son is a baseball fanatic. But since then he's not very interested. I have to guilt him to play with it. He's 7 and we don't have video games or watch much TV, so I can't imagine that it's too slow for him...all of his toys are. Maybe he's too young and he'll become more interested later

I realize this sounds like a bad review, but because this game is so incredibly beautiful and designed so well, I thought it was worth 5 stars and only wanted to knock it down 1 star for the other issues
