WAAAAYYYY back in the late 1970's,(I, myself) then being a young student of photograpy, (in these later years, being known as, 'wet-process photography'); I spied a Gentelman with his back to the West, (the infamous bar, 'The Wigwam',(soon th become,'The Club Charles'),NOTE: WHEN IT WAS THE 'Wigwam', the ritual was to throw some unsuspecting bugger through the front window at midnight. This is why the neon sign was on swivel-hooks. Neon signs are expensivee...
So, this old guy was taking pictures of the 'Famous Ballroom'(south of North Avenue, the Ballroom being on the East side of Charles Street,)with his $29 Velbon tripod,and his $70 Pentax camera. Decades later, I was a working in the medical media field when I was introduced to his daughter. After about 45 minutes of sitting together, Rebecca Suzanne Gault said to me, 'I knew that I was going to fall in love with you'. I questioned, ' Oh, how's that'? She replied, 'Oh, they were playing Beethoven's,'Ode to Joy' on the radio as I came to meet you. Many years later, I presented Lon Gault, a photo of himsef, photographing the 'Famous Ballroom, on, 'Charles Street In The Morning And so it Goes....

This is a wonderful collection of pictures & stories of all of the great old ballrooms of the past. I am an old ballroom dancer, & have danced in many of these. I'm sure any old time dancer would love it.
