I have used Balmex since my children were small...EXCELLENT for diaper rash, insect bites, burns, itching...ANY skin irritation. Works better then A&D, Vaseline, Zinc Oxide etc. We go no where without a tube in our luggage! It has become a household staple!

I cannot say enough about this stuff. Like other reviewers, I have tried tons of diaper rash creams (usually b/c they are less expensive), but I don't know how they stay in business. (Aveeno, A&D, Aquaphor, J&J). This one is the only one that really works for us. And it works FAST. I mean, the others can make a barrier against moisture, to prevent the rash from getting worse, maybe, but who wants that? This is the only thing I have used that literally heals the diaper rash! And it reduces the redness considerably in just one diaper change. Which is extremely important when your son or daughter is screaming for relief from their poor and sore little bum. The stuff in the other tube comes out slightly creamier, and this one is slightly firmer, but that's the only difference I have noticed. I like them both. They both work so, sooo well. I have never used the canister kind, and, I have never had anything at all sandy in mine, as another reviewer had. Poor lady. As a caviat, I have not used Desitin in many years, so I can not vouch for that one, but even if it worked as well, the smell really bothers me. (This one is odorless.) I am sad that I can not find this very easily in stores, so, thank you, Amazon, for selling it here. I don't know why Balmex is not more popular?! It's completely worth the money. I keep one in the baby bag, one with the diaper changing stuff at home, and 3 on the shelf. I stock up on this stuff, just to make sure I am never without...esp. in case of any emergency. :) Good luck out there.

I was told this product was no longer made, and so tried several of those"just as good" products-Threw them away. Thank goodness I found it here!
