4.0 out of 5 stars Let's Go Richie August 14, 2009
Format:Audio CD
Excellent album and gave it 4 stars due to the fact the CD is far too short. This one HAS the complete version of "La Bamba" which is faded out on most releases. I have read up on Richies life and it is really too bad his life was cut real short. Just reading his autopsy report is unbelievable as the other crash victims. Anyway, ad least we got to hear him sing and wonder how far he might have gone in the music business. This one has most of his well known songs but misses a few other key tracks. I got this one at a K Mart for 5 USD. It is worth it just for the track "La Bamba" with the whole ending. So if you have a half hour to spare. get this one.

3.0 out of 5 stars The Music Isn't Bad November 4, 2008
Format:Audio CD
This is a sad story of the career of Ritchie Valens who died in a plane crash along with Buddy Holly and The Big Bopper. The music is good, with hit singles like La Bamba and Donna being blue chippers, although given a bad production here on this CD I got at Wal Mart for 5 bucks. Worth the 5 bucks.

4.0 out of 5 stars My View April 17, 2008
Format:Audio CD
Eventhough this album has only 10 songs its still good.Ritchie was a true singer.People from the 50's and 60's would love this album.La Bamba,Oh Donna, and more are still the same with no high tech change. That's good since most songs are better left unchanged.

3.0 out of 5 stars SOUTH OF THE BORDER November 14, 2013
Format:Audio CD
RICHIE VALENS-LA BAMBA & OTHER HITS: Having perished at the tender age of seventeen in the same 1959 plane crash that killed the more important BUDDY HOLLY and the less talented BIG BOPPER, Mexican-American belter/guitarist RICHIE VALENS is primarily known for his summery hat trick of hits...traditional folk song LA BAMBA, tender ballad DONNA and euphoric party call COME ON LET'S GO. All those gemstones were covered note for note by LOS LOBOS, one of VALENS' most obvious protégés, on the soundtrack to his highly fictionalized life story LA BAMBA, starring LOU DIAMOND PHILLIPS, who bore little resemblance to the beefy artist. RHINO's budget line collection contains a scant ten tracks, mostly taken from his self titled debut platter, which range from exciting (HURRY UP) to non essential (the instrumental BLUES SLOW); OOH MY HEAD, one of his most powerful rockers is inexplicably missing in action. The unpolished, energetic soul of RICHIE VALENS pointed to obvious talent and boundless potential, the first in a long line of "south of the border" pop stars from CARLOS SANTANA to LOS LONELY BOYS.
