a CLASSIC in American animation, January 5, 2000
This review is from: Bambi Meets Godzilla & Other Weird Cartoons [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I honestly have no idea just what else is on this tape but to be truthful, it's worth the price for "Bambi Meets Godzilla" alone, since this gem is perhaps the funniest one-minute, one-joke cartoon ever made. It's quite simply a classic. Thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Newland for "producing" their son Marv!

Walt never done it like this, March 13, 2002

I saw the reviews here and thought "Hmm. How could I have missed that? I must see it!" So, I ordered the VHS from my local library system. Imagine my surprise when the tape I received was actually entitled: "Hardware Wars and Other Film Farces!" (©Warner Home Video - 1982) It was then that I realized how serious my pop cultural knowledge deficit really was. How had I gone all these years without seeing these "gems?" Just lucky, I guess. In addition to Marv Newland's incomparable and must-see "Bambi Meets Godzilla," the tape I got includes the way low budget spoofs: "Hardware Wars," (Star Wars) starring home appliances, so hokey it's funny! ; "Closet Cases of the Nerd Kind" (Close Encounters of the 3d Kind) The Dreyfuss character now works as a sewage treatment engineer. The shake-rattle-and-roll scene in the truck is given new dimension by Lawrence Welkian bubbles. It's all jazzed up with vestiges of the Road Runner (Beep! Beep!) and Soupy Sales-like pies in the face; and "Porklips Now (Apocalyse Now) Billy Gray (Bud) from Father Knows Best is all grown up and on a mythical Quest from the LA suburbs to Chinatown. "I love the smell of carbon monoxide in the morning!" The weighty novelty of "Bambie Meets Godzilla" is well worth the tape. If the version I viewed is currently unavailable, I'm sure the companion pieces here are just fine - or perhaps you can order them "Piece-meal." Go for it! In the words of `a reviewer from Brooklyn: May the Farce be with you!"

Uhh..., October 8, 2001
This review is from: Bambi Meets Godzilla & Other Weird Cartoons [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Bambi meets Godzilla is one of the strangest cartoons I have ever seen in my life. I have dim memories of watching a very short film of the same name over 10 years ago, and after recently watching it, I remember how odd it is. This is only worth watching for its bizzare factor. If possible, rent it, but I really dont recomend buying it. I really have nothing going for this, but nothing against it eather. The good: Its a Bambi Meets Godzilla film, increadibly wierd The bad: None that I can think of And the Ugly: Not long enough to really be worth anything, a sad waste of money if you buy it
