5.0 out of 5 stars a CLASSIC in American animation
I honestly have no idea just what else is on this tape but to be truthful, it's worth the price for "Bambi Meets Godzilla" alone, since this gem is perhaps the funniest one-minute, one-joke cartoon ever made. It's quite simply a classic. Thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Newland for "producing" their son Marv!

3.0 out of 5 stars Uhh...
Bambi meets Godzilla is one of the strangest cartoons I have ever seen in my life. I have dim memories of watching a very short film of the same name over 10 years ago, and after recently watching it, I remember how odd it is. This is only worth watching for its bizzare factor. If possible, rent it, but I really dont recomend buying it. I really have nothing going for...

4.0 out of 5 stars Walt never done it like this, March 13, 2002

I saw the reviews here and thought "Hmm. How could I have missed that? I must see it!" So, I ordered the VHS from my local library system. Imagine my surprise when the tape I received was actually entitled: "Hardware Wars and Other Film Farces!" (©Warner Home Video - 1982) It was then that I realized how serious my pop cultural knowledge deficit really was. How had I gone all these years without seeing these "gems?" Just lucky, I guess.

In addition to Marv Newland's incomparable and must-see "Bambi Meets Godzilla," the tape I got includes the way low budget spoofs: "Hardware Wars," (Star Wars) starring home appliances, so hokey it's funny! ; "Closet Cases of the Nerd Kind" (Close Encounters of the 3d Kind) The Dreyfuss character now works as a sewage treatment engineer. The shake-rattle-and-roll scene in the truck is given new dimension by Lawrence Welkian bubbles. It's all jazzed up with vestiges of the Road Runner (Beep! Beep!) and Soupy Sales-like pies in the face; and "Porklips Now (Apocalyse Now) Billy Gray (Bud) from Father Knows Best is all grown up and on a mythical Quest from the LA suburbs to Chinatown. "I love the smell of carbon monoxide in the morning!"

The weighty novelty of "Bambie Meets Godzilla" is well worth the tape. If the version I viewed is currently unavailable, I'm sure the companion pieces here are just fine - or perhaps you can order them "Piece-meal." Go for it! In the words of `a reviewer from Brooklyn: May the Farce be with you!"

The good: Its a Bambi Meets Godzilla film, increadibly wierd

The bad: None that I can think of

And the Ugly: Not long enough to really be worth anything, a sad waste of money if you buy it

3.0 out of 5 stars Hilarious, February 20, 2006
This review is from: Bambi Meets Godzilla & Other Weird Cartoons [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I saw this and it kept me laughing for a long time. It's the funniest thing ever to be made, but I'm going to have to give it a 3/5 because it had other old cartoon clips which made up the rest of the tape which are just stupid. But like I said, Bambi Meets Godzilla is hilarious and if I were just to rate that clip, it would get a 5/5

5.0 out of 5 stars Much more than the silly title cartoon., July 29, 2007
This review is from: Bambi Meets Godzilla & Other Weird Cartoons [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This tape contains 30 minutes of the very best and rarest of vintage animation -- NOT AVAILABLE ON DVD -- mostly from Max Fleischer, the leading competition to Disney before Warner Bros. The title piece is just a short joke, but that's followed by short-skirted Betty Boop in Crazy Town, a tour-de-farce that puts Bizarro World to shame. Next up is very early stop-motion animation with a metal-bird that eats car parts - and then lays an "egg" - in "You Auto Lay an Egg." This is followed by one of the cutest early color cartoons, Small Fry, set to the song of the same name. "Frogland" also has stop-motion from 1923 Russia, and is pretty bizarre. Finally, "Cobweb Hotel" features a spider inviting several flies into his parlor. This stuff is a must for serious animation / art students or fans of vintage film or 1920s culture.

Rich in colour, very weird,Johnny Legend presents "Bambi Meets Godzilla"& Other Weird Cartoons"is a phenominon of weird fun. I have a 10-year old brother named Ajamen.I have to take myself all the way from 2001 to 1987.When he was 4,we brought a video.Mom said it was okay for 'cutie pie Ajamen'to watch it with me.When he first saw it,he was jumpin'n laughin'at the funny scenes. And I'm glad you will enjoy it just as well as my bro Ajamen did.A must-have for the cartoon collector of your family.

5.0 out of 5 stars When asked what is my favorite Disney movie, December 31, 2001
This review is from: Bambi Meets Godzilla & Other Weird Cartoons [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I barely got my popcorn down when I realized how weighty the subject matter was. Now you need the sound track. Bambi alone is wroth the film. It is flat out funny.

"Bambi Meets Godzilla" is an animated classic - right up there with "Thank You Mask Man" (after the credits on ASIN 6302403421)!
