In addition to the Mios, we have a BumGenius and Baby Kicks all-in-one and several G Diapers with both cloth and disposable inserts. We have an 8 week old and so far we like the Bambino Mio cover with Bambino Mio cloth prefold nappy the best. It fits well and is easy to adjust with a wide band of velcro across the entire front. It is easy to put on with no complicated stuffing. It doesn't leak and rarely soaks through (we use them for up to 7 hours through the night). It is easy to wash and dries quickly (the dryer seems to take a toll on the cover after a while so we switched to line drying). We often get about 3 changes out of the cover before switching to a fresh one.The nappies are soft, absorbant and easy to clean. We've been washing on Extra Sanitary setting and using the dryer. The G Diaper is difficult to velcro, tight, yet once fastened the cloth waist band is actually loose on our baby (the inside shell is actually close to her skin however). The velcro already fell off one of our covers. The G Diaper cloth inserts don't absorb much and soak through. After washing sometimes there is still debris caught in the fiber - I had to cut some out after even scrubbing by hand didn't work. We often have to change the cover with each change. We've had better luck with the disposable inserts which do absorb more and fit better into the shell. The Baby Kicks is hard to snap and involves some stuffing. The Bum Genius is OK so far - we haven't used it enough to form a full opinion yet. For disposables we are using Earth's Best and Seventh Generation. Some people find they have better luck with disposables particularly overnight. We're finding the Bambino Mio comparable to the disposables.

This review is from: Bambino Mio Miosoft - White-Medium (Baby Product)
These size mediums were purchased after our baby grew out of the smalls. The mediums fit much better than the smalls but it has nothing to do with the product. The baby is bigger! I have found using Bambino mio diapers great in the medium size. They fit well, the baby has more weight to him so he is not 'all diaper'. Really happy I stuck it out after not being too crazy about these diapers when my baby was smaller. 11 pounds seemed to be the turning point. And I save money, at least $20/week NOT buying throw-away diapers.

This is my favorite diaper cover. The material is softer, not as stiff, and I get a better fit for my daughter with Mio. I've tried Bummi's Super Brite and Whisper Wrap and Thirsties' one size diaper cover. In my opinion they are stiffer and therefore appeared to be more bulky. Also, I can't get a good fit for my daughter with the Bummis and Thirsties cover. She has chubby thighs and slimmer waist so it's always either too tight on the thighs or too loose on the waist. She often gets red marks from wearing those two diaper cover but not with Mio. I use Mio with Bummi's prefold and I have never had problem with leakage. Of course, I generally change her around 2 hours max. I only use this for daytime and use fuzzi bunz/happy heinys pocket diaper for nighttime. The con part as mentioned by the previous reviewer is that there is no laundry tab.

Nice but not Leakproof,

I have the entire Mio system. It was all given as gifts at my showers. I love the system and think the prefolds are very good especially.I however am not entirely satisfied with the covers. Now this is my fault, but a couple of them I forgot to Velcro before washing, and in just one wash they now look like they are months old. On those ones the Velcro is starting to curl up, and the elastic on the legs is begging to wear out. On the ones that I have remembered to consistently Velcro, they still look very nice and in very good condition. I think the washing tabs that ones like "Thirsties" have would be useful on these. The Velcro on these is very good, I feel like the ones that have held up are still very strong. The only thing I don't like about it is how it comes so high. A number of times I have noticed it folding in slightly and it looks painful for my baby. I don't think it is very comfortable, and do not like to have my baby sitting straight up and down in these without loosening the Velcro. Also, I think the leg holes are to large. I usually have to assume that if he has had a bowel movement (breast milk, not solids) that it is on his cloths. He is slightly long and skinny, but has some good fat as well but the leg holes still leak. I actually sewed the fabric on the leg holes to make them smaller, that helped quite a bit. The elastic that is on the back though is superb, I have never had an explosion up the back. So.... if you don't mind lots and lots of poopy leaks, you should go for these, they are cute and have good Velcro. But if you want no leaks, washing tabs for the Velcro, and a product that holds up well, get "Thirsties" Brand covers. We just moved to those and I am so happy with them. A better product and cheaper. I would however recommend the rest of the Mio system. Slightly overpriced, but it makes it convenient and easy to have everything you need in one line. I especially recommended the liners, they are larger than other brands, the cheapest I have found, and if they just have pee on them I wash and reuse them and they hold up for numerous washings. |
