It isn't exactly a bad item, but it is non- functional and it looks kind of cheap. Don't be decieved by the tiny picture. If you want something decorative, get a differant fan. If you want something that snaps open nicely, this is not it. The outside ribs are warped inward which keeps the fan from closing.
When performing you need something that will open and shut smoothly. I know that fans made of wood sound more impressive than the plastic ones, but they are actually not as good quality. Get the plastic fans. Trust me.

Not Bad for the Price,

I used one of these fans in form practice for about 6 months. It finally broke from throwing it in the air and missing the fan as it fell to the floor. Mine broke and I am two more of the this same fan. If I were going to publicly demonstrate Tai Chi fan I would choose a much better fan than this one. For $8 or so this is a fine fan, it would not have broken if I was better at throwing the fan in the air and catching it. It is cheap and easy to break, but the fan is well worth the price, so I give the fan 3 stars.
