LOVED this idea. A cheap toy like a paper bag (for cats) and an empty water bottle to chew on (for dogs) are often the best toys around the house. Well, the company Bamboo took it one step farther. They created the water bottle "cruncher." This cruncher combined some aspects that I loved: a cute, colorful, bright design; the crunch of the water bottle to stimulate your I-love-to-chew-dog; the environmental green aspect of recycling those water bottles while getting a second use out of them; an easy to use Velcro to easily remove the beat-up plastic bottle; and the "mess-prevention" (in other words, the cruncher prevents hundreds of small pieces of plastic from littering my living room). Loved this product, despite the annoying noise of my dog chewing it :)[...]

This sounded like a GREAT idea for my Scottie who loves to crunch bottles, but I'm always concerned that she will ingest a piece of the bottle, or cut herself on one of the edges that become sharp from her chewing. They seem very well made, and designed to be sturdy, BUT within 30 minutes, she had torn through the material, rendering it just another unusable, and fairly expensive, toy.

My dogs love this toy! We were sent the cat and the alligator. I have four small dogs and they play tug-of-war with it. They are facinated by the crackling noise it makes. It is very well constructed with a canvas type fabric which has been doubled and sewed. There is double velcro at the opening so they could never get the water bottle out. They spend a couple hours each day playing with this toy. They have managed to chew through the ears on the cat cruncher but I have terriers who could ruin the toughest of toys in minutes.

Very cute. Unfortunantely, it didn't last for even a single bottle without a puncture in the fabric. Please try to make it tougher (thicker). Thank you

Well, after reading all the great reviews and seeing the video of a Lab playing with the bottle cruncher, I figured MY Lab would do great with it and not totally destroy it. I was Wrong! The first thing she did was grab it, squeeze and shake it a few times and then proceeded to chew it to pieces.

I was a bit disappointed that it did not hold up as well as I thought it would.

Oh well, I still think it is a great idea for Small dogs that do not chew as much as the bigger dogs do, and I did purchase one for my son's Sheltie. He seems to be doing fine with it but he does not even have his adult teeth yet. We will see. :)

My dog torn half of the head of (he is 42 lb)within the first hour. Now i have to put the bottle in without the cap cuz it doesn't fit the whole bottle anymore. He still chew on it once in a while.

My 65-pound bluetick coonhound rates this toy absolutely the most fabulous fun on amazon! She crunched away almost nonstop for a couple of days, and after about a week she had completely destroyed it. But the experience was obviously the most ecstatic of her life and well worth the $10 (otherwise it well might have been books as this bibliophile dog loves eating my book purchases from amazon). My boston terrier WISHED she got to play with it, and I'm sure it would have lasted her much, much longer. :)

Within 20 minutes my friend's Jack Russell had torn open the head, opened the velcro and chewed off the bottle cap! This is a toy for dogs who actually play with toys, not dogs who aggressively chew. Also note, you don't get two as shown in the picture; it is a bit misleading especially where they show TWO toys plus this and this is $$$.

I have two English Springer Spaniels who love to chew. Unfortunately, one of the dogs had the cruncher torn open less than 10 minutes after I put the first water bottle in it. Nice try, but I will not buy them again. There was a warning about not letting the dog be unsupervised when playing with the toy and they were right.

I gave one of these to my three-year-old German Shepherd and one to my eight-month-old Mastiff Mix puppy. Both dogs had these in shreds in less than five minutes, and had removed the plastic bottles from inside of them. The fabric is not durable at all and is, in fact, quite thin. These are cute to look at but are in no way tough enough to be worth the money. It's a one-time-use item and that one-time lasts less than five minutes. I was very disappointed.
