This item should be re-called. The blade is not sharp enough and the cutting action is flimsy. Cuts are not clean. This was torture for my small dogs. The cutter actually bends the claw. I would return this if I had kept the packaging.

I got this clipper based on the one review on here and I was very disappointed. I knew it was for small dogs but it didn't work for my three small dogs (they range in weight from 10 pds-30pds,) maybe it is meant for really small dogs like chihuahuas. When I used it on my dogs it would turn their nails sideways because of the shape of the nail which caused them pain. Even when I tried clipping their nails sideways to compensate it still turned their nails. Also, it wasn't a strong/sharp clipper and it really took some force to get through the nail...the only thing I liked about the clipper was the septic container in the handle, but that's doesn't make it worth buying.

The file on this trimmer, while convenient, was worn away after only a few trimmings. The guillotine is rather sharp and doesn't leave as many rough edges as the few I've had previsouly, but it does twist the thicker nails when its cutting causing pain for my two italian greyhounds which is not a pleasant experience for anyone involved.

I highly, HIGHLY, recommend you get this product. My dog, bless her heart, is an extremely patient and forgiving GSP. I used the scissors type trimmer for 9 years of her life. Every time I had to do her nails it was a nightmare for her and I both. I'd be nervous I'll cut into the quick, she'll yelp every time I squeezed the handle regardless of whether I hit the quick or not because the scissors type cutters apply too much pressure to a broad area of the nail which isn't even cut during the process (imagine cutting your nails with plyers). Well, these guillotine clippers are a life saver. They apply razor blade preciseness with no pressure on the surrounding nail. The first time I used this, my dog didn't squeal for a second. The cut was clean and quick. I was able to see exactly where I was cutting, and due to the preciseness of the guillotine style clip I was able to get down all the way to the tip of the quick with no pain, bleeding, or worries on my part or my dog's. The item comes with great tips for filing and cutting a dog's nails and the 3-in-1 combo is great. I'd give it 10 stars if I could!

My wife does the nail cutting on our Shelties. I just can't do it. She says they work well, so I'm happy with them.

was what i expected and worth the money. i like how the styptic vial fits in the handle- pretty nifty. only complaint -the file is really small and doesn't really do anything, but i didn't expect much else. If i could just get my dog to sit still it'd work even better.=)

I ordered these and thought they would be great, but unfortunately prefer the scissor type over the guillotine style. Now these just sit there unused and I just placed an order for the good ole scissor style. I do like that they have the styptic and file all inclusive, but the style just doesn't work well for my dogs little feet.

Though my chihuahua is still a bit young to need such large clippers--not yet a "small dog" 'cause he's still a pup--we don't use the trimmer so much. However, the styptic and file are great. I love the design and it's very easy to use.

Good quality, inexpensive nail trimmer is wonderful, my dog hated cutting his nails but with this trimmer it gets done quick and he doesn't mind!
