Product Description

Bamboo Studio 9-Inch Wine Plates are the perfect addition for your next dinner party, picnic, or everyday use. Unique, elegant and they have a circular cut out that holds your wine glass, allowing you to hold your plate, food and wine glass all with one hand. They also have a small built in area sauce for sauce.Bamboo Studio Dinnerware is made from the bamboo sheath. The sheath is a protective covering found on newly emerging bamboo plants. As the plant matures, the sheath falls to the ground and most often is unutilized. Our process collects these sheaths and then they are cleaned, boiled, and pressed into shape. The result is disposable/reusable dinnerware that is elegant, strong and 100-Percent biodegradable. Bamboo Studio dinnerware may be reused depending on the care. Always hand wash and do not submerge in water. Use a minimal amount of water when washing and dry immediately. Microwave safe up to 3 minutes on medium heat.

Customer Questions & Answers

Customer Reviews

The plates were split in places, not smooth.
Valerie Pulliam
It is, in fact, bamboo... just much more lightweight and I didn't expect these to be disposable.
Susan Ingram
I'm going to return these and try to find some plastic ones.

These plates are not made from bamboo *wood*. They are made from the sheaths that surround the growing stalk. As such, they are fibrous and have many splits. Many layers are gathered and pressed to make the plate. The plate thickness is about 1/8 inch. The surface is relatively smooth, but not nearly as smooth as sanded wood. View them as rigid replacements for paper plates. They can be cleaned and re-used, but never immerse them in water! Wipe them down with warm soapy water and then spray sanitizer on them - and dry the sanitizer with a paper towel.
Sauces will get stuck in the crevices and splits, and the surface will discolor from sauces like barbecue or soy sauce. Despite all these caveats, they make a nice presentation and are far more rigid than paper - rigid enough to hold a real wine glass (full, of course.)

I was excited when I saw these and thought they'd be perfect for our 4th of July celebration tomorrow. What I got instead is not something I would let anyone use. Three of the plates are already falling apart (peeling & cracking) and I haven't taken them out of the packaging yet. They don't seem to be strudy enough to hold more than a couple of crackers and some cheese. I'm going to return these and try to find some plastic ones.

Bought these for a party. When we got them we opened them and were kind of disappointed. They are flimsy and very thin. OK for small finger food and only if you do not overload them. Several of them were cracked which made them even more flimsy. The material is almost paper thin so be warned. A heavy red wine glass does not work well with these. Keep the glasses small and light. We ended up buying some small plastic wine glasses to avoid anyone having a plate fail and creating a mess.

These are a good idea but they feel cheap. Would not buy them again but did not return them. The end. (Amazon requires a certain number of words).

I should not have been surprised given the price, but these really are closer to bamboo cardboard than bamboo wood. The edges are fraying a after little after only one use (wiped down only, no water). They felt so light I worried about them spring the weight of a full wine glass. That fear was unfounded thankfully... Not that my wine glasses stay full long! They look pretty good and ate large enough for a small plate, and we always get complements on them.

These plates are rough and not as sturdy as they appear to be from the picture. I thought these would be reusable, but fear they will not tolerate many washings. I was very disappointed.

These are inexpensive but also of poor quality. We bought them to include in a wine basket for an auction and they are not worth including.
