This is a wonderful plate that I've used at several hawaiian parties. Everyone wanted to keep their plates and have them washed but they are disposable!!!! A great plate that's much, much better than paper plates without the hassle of washing! I would highly recommend this plate for any BBQ, luau or backyard party!

Out of a set of 8, one plate was too splintery to use. In addition to their quality, these plates seem very wasteful unless you are actually going to compost them, and, even then, why not just get paper plates? You can get those reusable basket plate holders if the paper plates won't be sturdy enough. If you're thinking about purchasing these plates and getting multiple uses out of them, which the manufacturer doesn't intend, you probably can if you're just going to be serving cookies or something non-greasy, but anything with a sauce will basically make them single-use.

I found these at a local grocery store that no longer carries them so am glad to find them at Amazon. I use these plates more than once for my own use until they get stained, then I can compost them. They can handle a gentle hand washing pretty well. I also use them new when I take food and/or cookies somewhere. It is sturdier than paper, makes a nice addition to the table and if I never get it back, who cares. Besides, it spreads the message that there are eco-friendly alternatives out there.

The more I use these plates, the more I love them.

Not only are these plates attractive and biodegradable, they are sturdier than your average paper plate. However, as with all paper plates, soaking in water or eat very wet foods from it will eventually soak through or cause the plate to separate into layers. Being bamboo, these last longer when used with moist food than paper.

These plates are made from several layers of bamboo veneer placed at 90-degree angles from each other so their grains lay across one another making it stronger and sturdier and can be lightly handwashed (no soaking) and reused one or more times if need be.

Ordered these for the first time last week - used them for a lunch gathering a few days ago - everyone loved them. They are disposable, very "green" as the material is a renewable resource (bamboo, which we all know grows like an uncontrollable weed and so is in no danger of ever running out). They are rigid, a nice neutral color. I will order these again, for sure. Wonderful especially for foods that make ordinary paper plates soggy. Compare to the strength of plastic, but without the environmental damage that plastic causes.
