Bamix Swissline Superbox - White The Ultimate Kitchen Tool

Customer Reviews

After nearly seven years, I have no complaints.
Buttercup
I mix blueberries and bananas for a healthy smoothie BUT, the blending action is not fast enough to totally chop the blueberry skins into a smooth blue pulp.

This review is the Bamix Swissline Super Box package but the components are across the line-up of Bamix products.

Mixing Wand:

This feels like a professional tool in my hand. The top has heft but not so much weight that my arthritic hands struggle with it. It is ergonomically shaped which makes holding it easy with little or no fatigue. It is quieter than the Braun it replaced and does such a superior job it does not feel like they should be in the same category. The Braun was a lighter weight, all plastic tool, which came with a detachable hollow plastic wand and processing container, both of which I used at least once a day, and it also came with a whisk attachment that I found too awkward to use. With the Bamix wand attachments I can do so much more: I puree, whip, froth, mix and blend like a pro. And fast! What it does to simple ingredients is amazing (Whipped skim milk froth blended with strawberries is heavenly!) The materials are first rate: solid stainless steel and sturdy plastics, that feel like they are of the highest quality, with workmanship that has a reputation for lasting decades -- this is not like many products today which are made to last 3 or 5 years and then be disposed of. Even the electrical cord has a solid quality feel to it.

There are different models available and three different lengths. I got the Swissline which is equal in length to common consumer immersion blenders. The stainless steel motor is encased so well it is designed so that you can immerse the unit well past the wand to the end of the tapered handle. It is easy to see why the Bamix is well regarded by professional chefs and serious cooks.

Wet/Dry Grinder:

This works as well as a burr grinder with dry spices.

I've had my SwissLine wand mixer for almost seven years. The ten year warranty was the deciding factor for me. I purchased it at a trade show through Ocean Sales and it has paid for itself many times over in savings on baby food alone. We never bought one single jar of baby food through our three children. Ever.

My mixer has performed flawlessly from the start. I do not normally like to keep appliances, aside from a coffee maker, on my counter, but since I use my Bamix nearly every day, it stays on the counter top. I use it for mixing yogurt smoothies, for making homemade yogurt (mixing starter in with the cooled milk before placing mixture in the yogurt maker), making applesauce, grinding oats and other grains and nuts, mixing eggs for scrambling/omlettes, making mayonnaise, whipping cream... you get the idea. My dad bought one and mixes a mean Margarita, as well as other frozen drinks, with his.

I have known family and friends who have purchased inferior wand mixers since I purchased mine and raved about it. They have, each one, been disappointed with their purchases.

I still have all the original bits including the meat blade, which was indispensable for baby food. The stand is cracking a little at the top, but one would expect that as normal wear and tear. After nearly seven years, I have no complaints. Well worth every penny I paid for it. In the off chance I ever have to replace it, I will do so without hesitation.

This is a great blender. My wife and I have used this model (or its previous version) for nearly 10 years. It is currently being sold ad Williams Sonoma for $129. The professional version that has a 200 watt motor is available at Sonoma for $179, which we just bought yesterday as our older one is starting to wear out. Great product we use every day - just watch the pricing.

This hand blender is an efficient alternative to a regular blender, in that washing it after use takes only 10 seconds compared to much longer for a larger blender. It comes with "blades" which aren't sharp at all, but spin fast enough to blend things like a banana. I mix blueberries and bananas for a healthy smoothie BUT, the blending action is not fast enough to totally chop the blueberry skins into a smooth blue pulp. I don't mind, but some people might. Gordan Ramsay hocks this item, and in the demonstration video uses raspberries and milk. Well . . . raspberries are pretty easy to chop up. If you make orange and banana smoothies, then you will get pulp. I don't mind as the ease of use makes up for the chunky smoothies. It also works GREAT for blending tomatos when making homemade pizza sauce. Simply insert into bubbling pan and blend.
