So many sunscreens smell like sunscreens - and that isn't a very pleasant scent to wear all day.
D. Williams
Coverage is easy to acheive with the spray nozzle, and you can spread the sunscreen even more by rubbing it in, although this isn't necessary.
H. Erickson-Sander
My legs and chest are the most unnatural shade of red (and also purple in some spots) from being so burned.

Sun protection, sun protection, sun protection! We should all use it, especially fair people who live in the South, as I do. It's not a question of whether or not to use it, but finding one suited to your preferences and needs and using it!

So what do I look for in sun protection, and does this product fulfill my wish list?

GOOD "FEEL." I don't like a greasy, heavy-feeling sunscreen. This aerosol is light, not greasy. It leaves a slight shine to the skin to which it is applied, so you know it's there.

PLEASANT SCENT. So many sunscreens smell like sunscreens - and that isn't a very pleasant scent to wear all day. This sunscreen doesn't have the typical "day at the beach" or "day at the water park" scent, but it does have an antiseptic scent, probably because of the propellant. This scent dissipates in about forty-five minutes.

EASE OF APPLICATION. People won't use a product that requires help or gymnastics feats to apply. Though not quite like a lotion sunscreen, the instructions on the can state that the aerosol must be rubbed in, so there are some places - such as the back - where users would need some help, but it is easier than traditional sunscreens.

EFFECTIVENESS. I tried this on an ordinary day for me, not a day when I'd be in the sun extensively. I am still seeing the shine on my skin I mentioned earlier, so I would say that this product is as effective, if not more so, than its label states. This and the scent are the main reasons I'm holding back at four stars; we'll have to see how it does on a day I'll be outdoors a great deal.

The most important - NON-STINGING! I've had fun days ruined because my sunscreen made my eyes and skin sting. I have no stinging with this product.

A few of us used this product at the beach and ended up with streaks of sunburn. When applying, everywhere was shinny, as if there was sunscreen on it, but afterwards there were definitely spots missed. The cooling effect was neat, but it would have been better if the sunscreen part actually worked.

I recently took this on our vacation to the beach. The easiest way for me to review it is in positive/negative bullet points

Positives
- nice cooling sensation
- no overpowering smell, just smells clean
- not oily feeling
- stays on through sweat
- twisting cap prevents leaking

Negatives
- "continuous spray" does not actually get everywhere you need it to
- only way to get full coverage is to still rub it around, which defeats purpose of spray
- did not seem to provide the protection I would expect from SPF of 30

Not an awful product, but I personally would opt for a typical rub on lotion to insure I was getting the product to fully cover my exposed areas. And I would probably opt for a higher SPF if you planned on being outside for more than a half hour at a time.

Our family loves this sunscreen! Bought it at the last minute when my son was playing sand soccer on a hot weekend. Used it on my sweaty son and my other 3 children, my husband and myself and none of us got burned! Love the cooling sensation especially when we had to reapply after a few hours. I have continued to use this sunscreen during soccer camps and cub scout camp and none of my children have received a sunburn! A friend borrowed it for a day and she always burns, but didn't after using this product. We are stocking up for the summer!

It finally got sunny enough here in the rainy Pacific Northwest for me to shed my winter coat and sit in the sun by the pool. Every summer, especially at the beginning of the season, I experience a sun allergy called Polymorphic Light Eruption. It is a rash that I get when I am first exposed to the summer sun. I sprayed Banana Boat Sport Cool Zone Sunscreen on my body before going in the sun. It felt cool and refreshing and after sitting in the sun for 4 hours I did NOT experience one sun rash or bump. Not many sunscreens have been that effective for me, so I give Banana Boat my highest endorsement. In addition to its effectiveness it also had an extremely pleasant summer scent that reminded me of my younger days and fun summers at the beach. You can't go wrong with Banana Boat Cool Zone.

I have always used Banana Boat sunscreen and found it to be one of the best. And I love when companies innovate and bring out new products. However, the invention of a new method of delivery should be at least as good as the older product in order to move me from that comfort zone. Coolzone Sport new ultra mist continuous spray does not make the grade. There is only enough product in the container for 5-6 people to get coverage one time. That is simply not good enough. Additionally, there is no reason for such a strong smell on any product in an aerosol format today. Of the 5 people that used this product here in sunny Florida, all five ended up with various places of sunburn. It is very difficult to maintain a steady and even application, thus I quote from the product instructions: "Invisible, Rub Free", then in another place, "Spray liberally, and spread evenly by hand". Huh??? It's either rub free or it's not.

This can be a convenient product, but when you need to apply outside - and you will want to do that with the strong smell of this product, there cannot be any wind. That is a difficult combination at the beach. Although, I will admit, it is nice on a second application of sunscreen to not have to grind the sand already on you into your skin as when you use the traditional paste product. I like the method, just not the execution.
